    They need a 6.5 mm 7.62x39 type case. Use 110 or 120 gr. bullets. Good ballistics, not super heavy, shouldn't tare up barrels fast.

    Wouldn't the 6.5mm Grendel fit that bill?

    I agree on the 6.5 and the Grendel would allow them to simply switch out barrels and mags for a quick adoption prior to phasing in completely new carbines.
