If the receiver has the circular cut out on the back it will not look very good

It does not have the cut out, It is the standard wood stock receiver.

Without looking at the parts kit, if it requires modifying the very rare WUM-1 I would suggest not doing it. Especially a WUM-1 with a square cut to the rear of the receiver. Installing an underfolder would normally require cutting holes in the receiver, cutting out the rear trunion and adding the cover plate to the rear. There are some sets available that use the standard rear trunion with the underfolder using the new "stock insert". That would not require destroying the receiver and although would not look 100% would not destroy the value of the rifle.

Of course, that was my 2 1/2 cents worth. It is your rifle.

With no modification, any European fixed stock set would work.

My suggestion because you don't come across a WUM-1 every day, or year, tell your friend to look for and underfolding WASR-10. Those were factory made and would give him what he want. Even modifying a fixed stock WASR-10 would not hurt because they are not collector rifles like the WUM.
