The new forces are expected to provide logistical assistance such as air support and equipment, including vehicles and tents.

National Guard troops routinely perform those same functions, so it is not clear why active duty forces are being used.

The military won't be engaging the caravan. They won't be making any arrests.

They are forbidden by Posse Comitatus from engaging in direct law enforcement functions. That is the Border Patrol's job.

Do you really think these people are going to be sneaking across the border?

As asylum seekers, they will be granted "temporary" entry and amnesty, and allowed to come right in through the front door until their cases are heard in court.

Of course, that could be years down the road. By then... they've disappeared into the countryside and laid several anchor babies, who will become automatic citizens by birth-right citizenship.

Some are asking questions about who is in the caravan, so CBN News asked our contributing correspondent Chuck Holton to check it out. He caught up with the caravan in the Mexican city of Tapachula.

People are also asking about whether or not there are so-called "exotics" in the caravan – people who are not from Central America. Holton went into a restaurant where he quickly found a young man from Somalia, which is in eastern Africa.

The Somali migrant spoke to CBN News in English, saying he was heading to the US in a few days. "We want to take some rest, you know. We are tired, been on the road," he said.

The Somali man revealed he began his journey north from Brazil. Holton also spoke with others from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Eritrea and Pakistan who are joining the caravan to the US.

how on earth do you expect tax revenue from people who work jobs that are either paid under the table or their wages are so low that they don't pay any appreciable income tax. Then these non-tax paying individuals will expect to send their kids to school and their grandma to the hospital when she gets sick. That means my kids and my mom get less.

Most of them pay FICA taxes, funding SS and Medicare for the rest of us old enough to collect. Yes, with "borrowed" Social Security Numbers often times, but that only means they are paying in without any guarantee they'll ever be able to collect SS when they get older themselves. They also pay sales taxes whenever they buy food or other household items, just like the rest of us. And property taxes through rent.

The simple reality is, the Social Security Trust Funds would have been depleted by now if not for immigrants continually coming in to pick up the slack, due to declining birth rates among American women.

The current American birth rate among women has just fallen to a 30-year low this year, of only 1.76 live births per woman! A society cannot sustain itself with an aging population without a birth rate of at least 2.1 per woman!

So long as American women are refusing to have kids, we NEED more workers coming in or none of us are going to be able to enjoy our government checks in the mail starting at age 62.
