Imprimis - America's Cold Civil War

I enjoy reading Imprimis and this is one of the best. Great explanation of the difference of how conservatives and liberals see humans and the Constitution and how that is affecting political discourse now. I highly recommend subscribing to Imprimis if you are not already a subscriber.

I'm surprised the author of that article mentioned nothing about the possibility of convening a Constitutional Convention to "fix our woes."

Ironically, it seems like it's mainly conservative states that want one so bad, so as to rein in "entitlement programs" and gut the 14th Amendment and end birthright citizenship along with it.

On the agenda for a Convention of States: an amendment to require a balanced budget, term limits for congress, repealing the federal income tax and giving states the power to veto any federal law, supreme court decision or executive order with a three-fifths vote from the states, etc.

Of course, if we open that barn door, there's no telling what could come out of it... it could change the face of America forever.

Neither the 14th Amendment, nor any other amendment, guarantees birthright citizenship to non-citizens who have babies. When the 14th was enacted, the sponsor of the amendment (a Republican) said it was ONLY for former slaves. (Dimocrats tried to say their babies were not citizens....) The reason for the Amendment was to guarantee that no one could claim a black child wasn't a citizen and make them slaves. The 14th put an end to that.

The 14th Amendment was written strictly for black people, no one else.

No one argued with that until Uncle Teddy used it to claim that non-citizen babies were automatic citizens, guaranteeing non-citizens could stay here to raise their "citizen" baby. This has been "accepted" (by Dimocrats) ever since, but it's still unconstitutional, based on the intent of why the 14th exists.

We should go back to only allowing property owners to vote. Those that leach from the system have zero skin in the game.
