Good article. I have an 1100 purchased new in 1976. Been a really reliable shooter except for one time when I learned that shiny ring inside the barrel ring that fits over the mag tube is a carbon ring and not the polished inside. Both gas ports completely carboned over. A little scraping and some cleaner and amazing, two small holes reappeared. Once I learned how to properly clean my Remington I haven't had a problem since.
