Latest example of fifth column scum

At some point; the US should seriously consider taking a page out of Putins playbook, and outright assassinate the traitors within. We're too soft when it comes to dealing with traitors.

US prosecutors have accused a former US Air Force officer of spying for Iran in an elaborate operation that targeted her fellow intelligence officers.

    But who is Monica Witt?

Details of her upbringing are unclear, but a previously issued FBI missing persons poster says that she was born on 8 April 1979 in El Paso, Texas.

According a curriculum vitae posted on jobs website Indeed, Ms Witt joined the Air Force in December 1997. Stationed at Offutt Air Force Base, she worked as a Persian-Farsi language specialist.

She later served as a Special Agent at the Air Force's Office of Special Investigations (AFOSI) from November 2003, based at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. On its website, the AFOSI says its mission is to "identify, exploit and neutralize criminal, terrorist and intelligence threats to the Air Force, Department of Defense and U.S. Government".

According to the indictment, Ms Witt was privy to classified information that could identify US intelligence officers and their sources.

A spokesperson for the US Air Force told the BBC she was discharged in June 2008 with the rank of Technical Sergeant. She received numerous decorations including the Air Medal, awarded for "single acts of heroism or meritorious achievements".

Ms Witt left the US military in May 2008. For the next seven months, she worked as a contractor with Booz Allen Hamilton in Maryland, consulting on "Iranian subject matter" and providing "language and cultural specialisation".

From November 2008 to August 2010, she worked as a Middle East Desk Officer at another contractor, Chenega Federal Systems, in Virginia. During this role Ms Witt says she "supervised, controlled, and co-ordinated the execution of highly sensitive counterintelligence operations against foreign intelligence services worldwide".

Later, from December 2010 to May 2011, Ms Witt worked in Washington with Amidest. During her time with the non-profit group, she "submitted applications for 60 Iraqi Fulbright candidates to multiple US universities".

    'Injustice to Muslims'
According to her CV, she holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland, a master's from George Washington University, and a qualification in Persian-Farsi from the Defense Language Institute.

George Washington University's International Affairs Review published two articles by Ms Witt in 2012. In one, she criticised the US for calling on Iran's neighbours to sever relations with Tehran.

"In enacting a policy of severe sanctions against Iran, the US should address the potential affects (sic) on other countries and not inadvertently alienate friends by making them choose between Iran and the US" wrote Ms Witt.

According to her online CV, she lived and worked within countries including Iraq, Qatar, Jordan, Turkey, the UAE, Tajikistan and Iran.

Monica Witt was last heard from while travelling in south-west Asia
After this, details of her activities and whereabouts are unclear.

In an undated missing persons declaration the FBI says MS Witt worked as an English teacher in either Afghanistan or Tajikistan and had been out of contact since 2013.

According to her indictment, in early 2012 Ms Witt converted to Islam during a ceremony broadcast on Iranian television. In several other television appearances, she allegedly identified herself as a US veteran and made statements critical of the US government.

State-run Press TV also published an article by Ms Witt, in which she attacked "a prevailing culture of tolerance for sexual harassment" within the US armed forces.

In February 2012, Ms Witt allegedly went to a "Hollywoodism" conference in Iran organised by the New Horizon Organization. The Justice Department says the event seeks to promote "anti-American propaganda".

A few months later, the FBI warned her that she was targeted for recruitment by Iranian intelligence services.

The following year, Ms Witt was quoted in an article by the International Quran News Agency where she discussed her conversion to Islam and American "injustice to its Muslim population".

"As someone who served in the US army for years, I expected that after embracing Islam, my right to choose a religion and my beliefs would be respected," she said.

"However, a US army member becoming Muslim was not something they could stand. They are afraid of such individuals."

In summer 2013, Ms Witt had an "ideological" turn, the indictment says, and tried defecting to Iran through its embassy in Kabul.

She later moved Iran and allegedly disclosed highly classified information to Iranian officials. The information included details of her former colleagues and their informants.

A warrant has been issued for Ms Witt, who remains at large.

Back in the day, the US was smart and made sure that there weren't any spies in our armed forces. We even went as far as to create Japanese and German internment camps to detain suspects en masse. Liberals have put a stop to that. If WWII or similar circumstances happened today; we'd lose because we wouldn't do what's necessary to win.

Justin, you are a scary man. I do not have a problem with her being arrested, tried, and allowed to present a defense. If she is found guilty then execution should be considered, but she should not be killed without allowing for due process. She is a US citizen. While she may be working against our country that does not remove the rights that the government is supposed to be protecting. If we ignore her rights just because we are unhappy with her, what will prevent our rights from being removed just because the government is unhappy with us (and this is already happening in multiple areas).

A war the scale of WWII could not be fought because the carpet bombing we did to Germany, and the firebombing of Tokyo would have the news media heads exploding over the killing of women and children. Today, the group of people that this woman represents has no problem using women and children as acts of war. Our news media would cause our loss, much like they caused us to lose the TET offensive after our troops destroyed the invaders and had the enemy on the verge of surrender until they read the American news and found they "won".

The second result of a major conflict should unfortunately suspending that part of the first amendment dealing with the press. And not by constitutional methods.

How sad we even think this, God forbid it come to pass!?!?!?!

She should have the same rights as the Rosenbergs.

I thought we had already targeted, located and killed several Americans who went over to the sandbox and joined up with the Muslim jihadist to fight against America. She would be just one more traitor we could locate and kill.

Now, if we can catch her outside of the sandbox, or even back in America, then we can talk about a fair trial. As long as she elects to remain in Iran, or any other part of the war zone, she is a legitimate target for killing.
No enemy of America would have ever been killed if they didn't show up to be killed. HDR

I don't disagree with this. In Iran she is an active enemy fighter. In the US or any other ally country she is a traitor and a criminal. In my mind this is a big difference.

There really isn't much difference between them in what their end goal is.

I suppose you're right; Monica Witt's case in particular enrages me because of the fact that she betrayed the United States and is a spy for one of our sworn enemies. Sometimes my emotions get the best of me.

This is what my school of thought is as well. I don't have any issue with extraditing traitors and criminals from allied nations, and putting them on trial in the US; the only problem with that is every once in a while is a radical leftist President will commute the sentences of some traitors *cough* Obama and Chelsea Manning *cough*

No. the internment of ALL Japanese American citizens and the confiscation of their property (including firearms) was a shitty thing to do. There were NO spies ever found among the Japanese AMERICAN population despite arresting and putting hundreds of thousands of them into camps. The only spies found were Foreign nationals who snuck in. BIG difference. This implies that you think that depriving AMERICAN CITIZENS, some of who were already serving in the Armed Forces deserved to have all of their constitutional rights stripped away, then you're not thinking it through. As for German Americans, there were some internees but the vast majority of Ethnic Germans interned were foreign nationals living in the USA. But for the few (less than a few thousand) German AMERICANS who had their constitutional rights violated, this was also a black mark on the history of the US.

Are you sure about that? What if she has rejected her U.S. citizenship and the news just isn't commenting on that? Could that be part of the reason she has been so hard to find - she's traveling on a different passport, like "Dumbo" did when he went to Pakistan (or wherever) when U.S. citizens were forbidden to go to that country?

I am going on the information provided, not conjecture. If more information is found, I would consider it and that may change the actions I think should be taken.

If an American city or two was subjected to a WMD attack the modern day liberal would have a major change of heart very quickly. People are hard wired to survive.

Extrajudicial executions of citizens are a slippery slope.

    Naw, they'd surrender as suggested in this agitprop piece;
