Anyone Familiar With The ASR by TNW Firearms?

Doing some serious thinking about this rifle.

And, not sure which caliber to go with, 9 mm. or .45 Auto. This would be my second .45 Auto carbine/rifle if I went with this caliber, but the mags are limited to 10 and 13 rounds (Glock mags) of which I'd have to buy since I don't have anything that uses them. The .45 does carry a lot of authority with it but its range is not quite as far as a 9 mm.

The 9 mm. uses the same mags my Kel-Tek SUB-2000 uses and I already have a few of those. However, I do have 5-6 9 mm. carbines/rifles already and this would just be one more. Plus, the ammo is a bit cheaper than .45 Auto.

All ASR rifles are take-down models and come with a backpack.

Oh well, I guess I'll settle on one if I decide to go with an ASR carbine.

    Anyone know anything about them?

Just went in to my dealer's today and paid for it. He said he can get them cheaper directly from the manufacturer, but they're out of stock right now. He asked if I wanted to wait for it to come back in stock,or did he want me to get him to purchase it from a supplier.

    I said I'd wait.

I ordered the 9 mm. as I can use the same mags for the Sub2000 and the ASP.

I'll let you know when it comes in and try to post some pics of it.

Dealer called and said it had come in, so I went and picked it up.

    Initial impressions:

It looks like a well-made rifle.

It is heavier than it looks. The whole buttstock is steel, not composite or plastic. This accounts for much of the weight, plus almost everything else is made of steel, too.

I've ordered 45* offset iron sights for it. The rail is not very long, so I'm not sure how well the sights will work, but the scope should work okay. (I don't like any rifle that doesn't have iron sights...always good to have them to fall back on if something happens to the scope.)

The barrel screws on with authority. Once it starts to seat you hear a bunch of locking "clicks" and these must be there to prevent it from coming loose, plus the barrel locking nut is heavy duty.

It takes Glock mags, which I like. (Didn't get one with the gun as it ships with a 33 rnd. mag and they're illegal to sell in MD.) Still no problem there....

All in all, it should be an interesting, and fun, gun to shoot.

I'll post some pics as soon as I can. I want to take it, and a few others out, to sight in and run them through their paces as soon as the weather makes gets a little better.
