I heard this on the news, today.

It makes about as much sense as suing a car company for a hit and run or a company that makes baseball bats when one is used to beat someone's brains out.

If the courts find against the manufacturer, this could open up a whole new can of worms for ANY company that makes a tool that is used to commit a crime.

My thoughts are that the plaintiffs have to prove the rifle was built for the sole purpose of killing school kids, otherwise, they have no real case.

My thoughts exactly, start suing Ford, GM, Chrysler, etc if anyone used their cars while drunk and kills someone. Or if someone uses a motor vehicle as a weapon of mass destruction and crashes into a crowd.

How about suing the power company if someone gets electicuted?

This is lawsuit sickness at it's finest.
