    S&W 64-5 Range Report

I recently purchased a S&W 64-5 from AIM Surplus. This is a .38 SPL police trade-in from a force overseas (I need to figure out from where!). Took it to the range and just loved it! It was very accurate, as would be expected, when fired double action. In single action I was surprised at how much it affected my aim. The recoil was not bad and, as it is a revolver, I had not function issues. The one thing I noticed is that the wood grips felt a little small in my hands, and my hands are not that big. I had expected this and could have gotten the revolver with Pachmyr grips but wanted the more original wood grips with the S&W emblem embedded in the grip. All in all, I a very pleased. Here is a picture of the pistol.

I tried to push the envelope, but found that it was stationery.

Nice revolver. I have a few SS revolvers, but the only S&W SS revolver I have is my 629 in .44 mag, with the 8 3/8" barrel.

I, too, find the standard wooden grips a little small for my hands and prefer the larger pachmayr grips.

If you really like the looks of wood grips, you should be able to find a few different, larger styles on line.

    Good buy on that revolver.

Thanks! Those look interesting. Allowing me to keep the original grips while providing something a little more substantial to hold onto.
