    Could Lab-Grown Brains Develop Consciousness?

The experiment gave bioethicists the heebie-jeebies: the mini-brain not only matured, but commandeered the mice’s circulatory system to feed themselves; they also formed functional synapses with the mice’s own neurons in a hybrid network that fired together.

Then, a few months later, another team offered evidence that the electrical activity of mini-brains resembles those of premature babies. Using electroencephalography (EEG), the team captured the surface electrical activity of mini-brains at six months, and recorded activity eerily similar to fetuses roughly 30 weeks after conception—unpredictable, chaotic bursts of synchronized electrical activity.

Delft University of Technology scientists have created baker’s yeast with human muscle genes.
Human muscle genes were successfully inserted into the DNA of baker’s yeast by biotechnologist Pascale Daran-Lapujade and her team at Delft University of Technology. For the first time, scientists have effectively inserted a crucial human characteristic into a yeast cell. Their research was recently published in the journal Cell Reports.

All of this type of research is just plain wrong. Using stem cells to grow healthy organ cells to replace damaged ones in a human's body is one thing, but inserting genes into some totally different organism is something else.

As it was in the days of Noah...
The Book of Enoch describes the mischief of the fallen angels who left their realm to co-exist with men and pervert the gene pool as well as teaching men (and women) all manner of things that mortals could not discover on their own. It is not recognized as divinely inspired writing, but rather a traditional Hebrew account of things past. Definitely worth a read, or a listen on the Audible app

Israeli firm to create human embryos to harvest organs
Last month we looked at the work of a research group from the University of Cambridge who have been creating mouse embryos that are grown from stem cells rather than sperm and eggs. The embryos possess small brains, beating hearts, and other organs. While this is fascinating research that presents opportunities in the medical field, particularly for organ transplants, I raised a number of obvious ethical questions. Doing this with mice is one thing, but obviously, this research is heading toward trying something similar with human organs. Well, as the saying goes, that didn’t take long. Someone is already on the path to creating human embryos in this fashion. I’d assumed it would likely be someone in China, but to my surprise, it turned out to be a biotech firm in Israel. Renewal Bio is in the process of developing human embryos from stem cells and using “artificial womb technology” to grow them. And the stem cells have already produced beating hearts, intestinal tracts, and yes… brains. (CBN.com)
