It's a muzzle loader that uses 209 primers.

The web site has 11" double barrels, too, but I like the looks of the 6" barrels better.

Kind of like a Howdah's big brother.....

It also appears to be a breach loader, not a muzzle loader. Why have the break action for a muzzle loader?

I remember shooting the Howdah. Didn't hit a thing shooting at the flying clay pigeons, but still had a ton of fun with it!

The break action is to place the primers on the nipples. I'm guessing it also helps keep moisture out.

It, finally, arrived yesterday. Only took about 3 months (when they first came out, I read there was almost a year's wait for them....), but it was worth it.

    Initial thoughts:

Very heavy for its size. Mostly front heavy, so that's a good thing.

Very clean and super tight lockup.

The hand grip feels a little short for my hand. My little finger has nothing to hold on to.

Appears to be very well made and solid.

From what I saw on youtube, it will safely shoot 150 grains of black powder, but the recommended load is from 60-80.

May have to order a holster for it (they're $126 on the website). Gonna see if I can find it cheaper somewhere else before I buy theirs.

Overall, I can't wait to shoot it. I've got some components coming in from Dixie and and Gunbroker, then I'll take it out to shot.

If nothing else, the business end is very intimidating.

    Super impressed so far.....

Yes. 70 grains of black powder. The 12 gauge I used to hunt with I loaded with 80 grains of black powder.

I'll be loading round balls, mostly, but I want to try some 00 Buck and maybe some 7 1/2 shot. The guy on youtube hunts squirrels with his. He can hit a squirrel at about 15 yards out.

I shoot, mostly, slugs in my Howdah pistol (20 gauge).

Before I do anything totally stupid, I want to try 90 grains and see how much that kicks, first. I'm not overly fond about going to extremes...especially with guns.

I was kidding about the 150 grn ( i'm pretty sure you know what you're doing ), i've only used 3 , 50 grn triple 7 pellets in one of my rifles once and it hurt

I can't handle heavy recoiling pistols any more, too many years of swinging a hammer and nail gun have left my wrists a little weak and arthritic. I think 40-50 grns would be max for me.

Damn, you got me thinking of BP shooting again, i haven't had those nasty dirty guns out since i started shooting Bench rest a few years ago, in fact i've backed off all but pistol practice this last year since i found a more expensive hobby than bench rest.... i bought a boat

I know what you're talking about when you say boats are expensive (Definition of a boat is a hole in the water you keep throwing money into). That's why I have a canoe and kayak...a whole lot cheaper.

Even though the guy in the youtube video shot 150 grains of powder, from the muzzle blast, it looked like a lot of the "extra" powder ignited outside the barrel. The barrel is too short to burn it all inside.

However, I'll probably settle on around 70-80 grains of powder as anything over that will just be wasted (looks impressive at night, though ).

I'm just waiting for my order to come in from Dixie, then I'll have everything I need to load it. If things go well, I'll try to shoot it this weekend at my brother's farm.

Great article. Haven't watched the video yet, but I will.

May have to take out the loading I have and up the powder charge to around 90-100 grains, as he mentioned.

Just waiting on my holster now....
