    My new BMW

1982 528E..... E stands for economy due to it's low fuel consumption and seeing how this car gets 35+MPG on the HWY I can see why the krauts claimed it economical..I drove 200 miles yesterday on $20 and I still have plenty of gas left.

I have been looking for a used car now for a few months. I had a $5000 budget in cash. Anyways, I have been searching high and low for something to scoot around in instead of my Jeep or Excursion.

My brother is a mechanic at a BMW dealership and he told me about this car and hooked me up with the owner who happens to be the same owner since 1982. The guy is retiring and moving to AZ...He just wanted it gone.

All maintenance was done at the dealership since 1982 with EVERY receipt to prove it...Including a new engine in 2002. It has a I6 motor, manual transmission, moon roof, brand new alternator and fuel pump. The steering is tight and it shifts so smooth.

My brother is going to change the timing belt for me this weekend and I need some new tires but other than that it is good to go. I have never been interested in a BMW till I drove this car. My bro kept telling me how they handle and what not but my sibling rivalry wrote him off... FWIW...This is not my last BMW...

    Anyways...

This car is immaculate minus a few small dings and broken fog lights on the bottom of front spoiler...Inside and out...This car handles very nice and sounds like it just came out of Germany.

Ohh yeah..I got it for $500. $500 fucking dollars...I have $4500 to either buy another car for winter or throw back under my mattress.

    That's grass on the seat...

$500? You can't put a decent set of tires on it for that price. You did very well!!

I'm so used to driving trucks or tractors and this thing handles very nice...In fact I have never driven anything as crisp as this. My brother really hooked me up.

Cool Chiak... I love to see Bimmers.... especially older ones, these cars if maintained can run just as long as Toyotas.

I picked up a new BMW myself on Memorial Day...

    2007 BMW M6, 38K miles... unfortunately with a 500hp V10, I'm only getting 9 mpg! (no joke)

Very nice....You have fine taste in automobiles.

I feel ya on the 9mpg...My 310hp v10 Excursion only gets around 10mpg. My lifted Jeep only gets 10mpg...
I am tired of my major effort of supporting the oil companies. My wife and I sat down one day and tallied up receipts for gas and we spent on average $200 a week just in fuel and that's just her running to school and back and me scooting around a little.

BMWs are nice cars. It's hard to drive anything other car after driving one, nothing else handles as nice. Good find!

damn nice 528. I have its little brother the 325 also with the 2.7ETA motor in it. 275K miles and still running strong. Cosmetics on mine arent nearly as nice, but still these things are actually cheap and easy to work on and easy to get parts for. I think it took me about 2 hrs total to do the timing belt on mine

Nice score. You could use the money saved for new seat covers and carpet and get that new car smell for a few months.

Congrats! I hope you are good mechanic. Cause if you have to take that to the repair shop, you're gonna cry.

We got a good deal on a 2003 325i for my son to use. Very nice car. Trouble was, every little thing that it needed cost about 4X more to fix than most any other car make.

We sold it and got him a 2001 Wrangler with the money and he's happy as a clam. Spoiled kid...

I like beemers but not the maintenance and repair costs...

One last thought for you, if you are mechanically inclined, here is a lifesaver site for parts identification, has exploded diagrams and part numbers for almost every BMW ever built (but you cant buy parts there) To ID your car, input the last 7 of the vin, and it will automatically choose the right options for you, saving tons of BS searching.

    www.realoem.com

And for the best prices on parts (prolly even cheaper than the bro with the stealer discount)
