I read the paper.
It says the Omicron/wild-type Sars-Cov-2 combination the researchers created is more lethal than Omicron.
However, it ALSO says the Omicron/wild type virus is LESS lethal than original wild type. Neither of those findings should be a surprise. Omicron is much less dangerous than the original Sars-Cov-2, so blending the two together produces a virus with intermediate lethality.
What’s with the 80 percent mortality rate then?
It’s in mice, people.
And guess what? The wild-type had a 100 PERCENT mortality rate in mice.

Ontario’s top doctor urges mask wearing, warns mandate could return
In an interview with Global News, Dr. Kieran Moore, Ontario’s medical officer of health, urged people to get vaccines, boosters and wear a mask to avoid an unmanageable surge in hospital admissions.
He said the rate of uptake for fourth doses by Ontarians aged 70 and older — around 16 per cent — was “not acceptable” and said public health measures like mandatory masking could return “if necessary.”

A simple and independent experiment conducted by a pair of scientists, one from the United States and the other from Japan, appears to show that placing the Pfizer-BioNTech Messenger RNA gene therapy vaccine into a sample of blood causes oxygen desaturation and blood clotting to occur in red blood cells. The tests also revealed the presence of “garbage” crystalline structures and fibers.
