Scientist: Coronavirus ‘Not Airborne’ but ‘Extremely Contagious’
On February 8, China Daily reported a Shanghai official said the novel coronavirus’s “confirmed transmission routes” included “direct transmission, contact transmission and aerosol transmission.”
“Aerosol transmission refers to the mixing of the virus with droplets in the air to form aerosols, which causes infection after inhalation, according to medical experts,” said Zeng Qun, deputy head of the Shanghai Civil Affairs Bureau
Anderson showed NBC’s Richard Engel her lab where she keeps both the live virus and the bats that were gathered for food in China, which she believes are the cause of the infection.

Coronavirus Was Eerily Predicted in a 1981 Novel
The 1981 novel “The Eyes of Darkness” by Dean Koontz talks about a deadly virus used as a biological weapon named Wuhan-400. The epicenter of real-life Coronavirus is … Wuhan, China. And the eerie similarities do not end there.

China Blames ‘Xenophobia’ and ‘White Supremacist Racism’ for Coronavirus Fears
Chinese state media continued their efforts this week to mitigate political damage from the coronavirus epidemic by claiming Western concerns about the spread of the disease, and complaints about China’s lack of transparency, are founded in “xenophobia” and “white supremacist racism” reminiscent of the “Yellow Peril” hysteria of the late 19th Century.

California Coronavirus Patient Went to Hospital Last Week But was NOT TESTED By CDC Despite Requests from Local Health Officials
A person in northern California who has not traveled internationally recently came down with coronavirus this week.
The patient did not have contact with any known people with coronavirus.
Doctors do not know how he caught the virus or from whom.
    And now this —
The patient was sent home last week after he went to the hospital.
And the CDC refused requests to check him for coronavirus despite requests from local health officials.

North Korea's First Confirmed Coronavirus Patient Shot Dead
To loosely quote Stalin, "No Patient Zero, No Problem."
For weeks, the outside world has speculated about the severity of the coronavirus outbreak in North Korea. And the entire time, North Korea has persisted in insisting that it doesn't have a coronavirus problem, even growing furious at a public offer of assistance from the State Department.
For all we know about the North Korean virus response, the government might have simply brainwashed the North Korean people into believing that loyalty to the Workers Party and Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un grants immunity to the virus. However, there have been whispers.

CDC Waited Days To Test California's Latest 'Mystery' Patient For Coronavirus: NYT
By the time President Trump kicked off his coronavirus press conference last night, top officials in California's Department of Health were preparing an announcement of their own in conjunction with the CDC: They were preparing to confirm a Washington Post report about a new coronavirus patient whose infection was of unknown provenance.
But according to a story published Thursday morning by the New York Times, Californian health officials could have known about the infection - and thus taken the critical early steps to quarantine the individual - days earlier if it weren't for restrictive federal criteria determining when federal or state officials can use one of the limited number of coronavirus testing kits available in the US.

Turkish Army Is Targeting Russian Planes In Idlib With Shoulder-Fired Missiles: Report
We reported previously that an increasing number of advanced shoulder fired "Man-portable air-defense systems" or MANPADS are showing up in Idlib, alarmingly in the hands of al-Qaeda linked factions such as US terror designated Hayat Tahrir al-Sham.
But now the Kremlin is charging Turkey's military with orchestrating the campaign to shoot down Russian aircraft over the war-torn northwest Syrian province.
Reuters now reports that "Russian state television said on Thursday Turkish military specialists in Syria's Idlib region were using shoulder-fired missiles to try to shoot down Russian and Syrian military aircraft."

Israeli Researchers on Cusp of Creating Coronavirus Vaccine — Could be Ready in a Few Weeks and Available in 90 Days

Could The Covid-19 Pandemic Collapse The U.S. Healthcare System?
A great many systems that are assumed to be robust are actually fragile. Exhibit #1 is the global financial system, of course, but Exhibit #2 may well be the healthcare system globally and in the U.S.
Observers have noted that the number of available beds in U.S. hospitals is modest compared to the potential demands of a pandemic, and others have wondered who will pay the astronomical bills that will be presented to those who are treated for severe cases of Covid-19, as the U.S. system routinely generates bills of $100,000 and up for a few days in a hospital. Costs of $250,000 or more per patient for weeks of intensive care treating Covid-19 cannot be dismissed as "impossible."
Beyond the possibility that the logistics and costs of care will overwhelm the system, there are numerous and highly consequential second-order effects to consider. As you may recall from recent posts here: first order, every action has a consequence. Second order, every consequence has its own consequence.

It Begins: Hawaii Stores Empty Out On Coronavirus "Panic Buying"
Hawaii is urging residents to prepare for a potential breakout of Covid-19 amid new warnings earlier this week from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that the deadly virus quickly spreading across the world could cause a "significant disruption" to American life.
Although there are no confirmed virus cases in Hawaii (the state Health Department says 80 people are self-monitoring for the coronavirus in Hawaii after recent travel to China), the CDC's warning sparked a buying frenzy among residents this week as they emptied store shelves of food and supplies.

US says Chinese ship fired laser at American aircraft
WASHINGTON (AP) — A Chinese Navy ship fired a laser at a U.S. surveillance aircraft flying over the Philippine Sea west of Guam, the Navy said Thursday, acknowledging the incident more than a week after it happened.
The Navy said the People’s Republic of China naval destroyer lased the American P-8A Poseidon aircraft in an act the U.S. deemed unsafe and a violation of international codes and agreements. The statement from U.S. Pacific Fleet said the laser was detected by sensors on the aircraft, but was not visible to the naked eye.

Gold and Silver Prices Did Not Rise on the Back of the Coronavirus Threat
There has been a lot of misinformation circulated in the mass financial media as always, this time regarding the reasons why gold and silver prices have spiked recently as well as continued to climb higher at the start of 2020. Almost all mass media financial outlets have posed the question, “How long the ‘coronavirus-based’ gold and silver price spike can last?” Asking this question is conflating correlation and causation, a mistake frequently made by the mass financial media. For weeks, I have been stating that gold and silver prices were basing for a significant price spike higher on my skwealthacademy news site, even writing two months ago that gold and silver prices were readying to bounce higher soon. So the fact that gold and silver prices spike higher during recent growing concerns of the coronavirus spreading outside of China does not make it the primary reason why gold and silver prices have indeed spike.

All of this coronavirus hype is being maintained and fueled by the Faux News Media.

It's really no worse than the regular flu. So far, other than in China and Iran, where medical care is 3rd rate and ignorance is supreme, it's not doing much outside those countries.

This will turn out to be about as real as the Mueller Investigation, Russia Gate, and the Partisan-led Impeachment the Commucrats have staged....and been shown up for.

The outcome of all this will be the same. When it's all over, and the world doesn't end, the Commucrats will, again, look stupid and deranged.

Don't forget who's reporting all this crap....1440/day, 24/7, ad nauseum....

Why would it kill so many in China and not be "too bad" in developed countries? Could it be that in the region that it originated from, the people are not the healthiest to begin with, most malnourished?

Also with the closing the boarders of the afflicted cities, how many in those bags, assuming there is a person in the bag, didn't succumb to the disease but starved to death?

I've heard it might be due to how popular smoking is in China, seriously. Those who smoke are much better set up to let it take hold and fester, something about ace receptors the virus uses to unlock your cells to rape them.

I have the coronavirus. So far, it isn't that bad.
I am in my late 60s, and the sickest I've ever been was when I had bronchitis several years ago. That laid me out on my back for a few days. This has been much easier: no chills, no body aches. I breathe easily, and I don't have a stuffy nose. My chest feels tight, and I have coughing spells. If I were at home with similar symptoms, I probably would have gone to work as usual.
I caught the virus on the Diamond Princess, the cruise ship that was quarantined outside Yokohama for 14 days, at the end of a 16-day cruise I took with my wife, Jeri. When I left the ship a couple of weeks ago, I felt fine. We checked our temperatures throughout our quarantine. Jeri and I got a swab test for the virus. Our temperatures were normal; they'd get the swab results back in 48 hours. Our test results had not arrived before we boarded buses for the airport, where two U.S. government planes waited for us.
As we took off from Tokyo, I had a bit of a cough, but I chalked it up to the dry air in the cabin. I felt pretty tired - but who wouldn't, in our situation? I dozed off.

Staff members from the Department of Health and Human Services’ Administration for Children and Families were sent to Travis Air Force Base and March Air Reserve Base in late January and early February and were ordered to enter quarantined areas, including a hangar where coronavirus evacuees were being received, the complaint said. They were not provided safety-protocol training until five days into their assignment, said the whistle-blower, who is described as a senior leader at the health agency.
Without proper training or equipment, some of the exposed staff members moved freely around and off the bases, with at least one person staying in a nearby hotel and leaving California on a commercial flight. Many were unaware of the need to test their temperatures three times a day.

Four Cruise Ship Passengers Rushed To Los Angeles Hospital With "Unknown Illnesses" Friday Night
Late on Friday, the Emerald Princess cruise ship docked in Los Angeles port, hours before its scheduled arrival. The LA City Fire Department said that it received a "call for help" just before 8PM local time and deployed four ambulances to Berth 93, where the ship was docked.
Upon arriving, paramedics found two people suffering from "unknown injuries" and two others suffering from "unknown illnesses". The four patients were taken to nearby hospitals "without lights or sirens", according to KCAL Los Angeles.

Is Wall Street Behind the Delay in Declaring the Coronavirus Outbreak a “Pandemic”?
The refusal to label the outbreak a pandemic is odd, since it refers to an epidemic or actively spreading disease that affects two or more regions worldwide. This currently describes the geographical spread of the highly contagious novel coronavirus, which has now resulted in significant clusters of cases far from China, namely in Italy and Iran. Countries closer to China, like South Korea, have also recently experienced an explosion in novel coronavirus infections.
It is possible that concerns over using the word “pandemic” could upset global markets and lead to economic turmoil, similar to what happened to the U.S. stock market following the CDC announcement on Tuesday. Though such concerns are valid, there is also evidence that a particular class of bonds issued by the World Bank that are closely related to official declarations of pandemics may also be responsible for having steered WHO and CDC officials away from using this term, even though the consequences of doing so could negatively impact global public health.

Barack Obama Waited Until “Millions” Infected and 1,000 Americans Dead Before Declaring H1N1 a National Emergency
Since the H1N1 flu pandemic began in April, millions of people in the United States have been infected, at least 20,000 have been hospitalized and more than 1,000 have died, said Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. [emphasis added] Furthermore, the CDC’s Frieden fretted at the time that efforts to create a vaccine had stumbled:

Coronavirus Was Spreading In Washington State For 6 Weeks, Infecting Up To 1,500, Study Finds
Last night the US got its first dose of really bad coronavirus news, when Washington State announced it was the site of the country’s first coronavirus death on Saturday, while additionally reporting that two confirmed cases of covid-2019 were confirmed at a long-term care facility in Kirkland, Washington, prompting the state to declare a state of emergency, even as President Trump issued new foreign travel warnings and restrictions on Saturday afternoon in an effort to stop the spread of the virus, while also urging calm among members of the public.
There was worse news: researchers who studied two cases in the state say that the virus may have been spreading there for weeks, suggesting the possibility that up to 1,500 people in the state may have been infected. Specifically, the researchers compared two cases to learn more about how the coronavirus spreads. The viral mutations suggest that it has been spreading in the state for close to six weeks, according to one of the scientists who compared the sequences, Trevor Bedford, an associate professor at the University of Washington.

U.S. President Trump Expands Coronavirus Entry Restrictions – Sec 212(f) Travel Entry Ban From Iran
On January 31, 2020, I issued Proclamation 9984 (Suspension of Entry as Immigrants and Nonimmigrants of Persons Who Pose a Risk of Transmitting 2019 Novel Coronavirus and Other Appropriate Measures To Address This Risk). One thing that came to mind that I haven't heard anyone mention is that tuberculosis is fairly common in Asia. As the corona virus is respiratory it might hit people with tb harder. There also might be absolutely nothing to this

I heard the same thing. One is the viral damage done to tissue like lungs and intestinal tract, if any other conditions exist such as infection from microbes or other virii, the immune system is under great pressure and death becomes much more likely. Such was the case of the guy who died in the Washington nursing home, he got the virus and it complicated his other illnesses.

The coronary aspect to the coronavirus is with people who have had the virus and recovered, a second infection takes place and their weakened heart begins to collapse, this is the case where people are walking along and they just drop. They're saying the heart is damaged by drugs taken to counter the virus in the first infection and a secodnary infection finishes the heart off, but I don't buy that.

I rather suspect the virus damages the heart to begin with. Chicom scientists who looked into the infection/recovery/coronary occurrence found damaged heart muscle cells in mass quantities in virus patients circulatory systems who died from heart attack, suggesting to me the virus in some cases infiltrates the heart and starts raping heart muscle cells, get to the point where the damage is extensive and the heart stops working. This is the way virus work, they rape cells and the cells can no longer perform the job they're designed to do, enough cells get infected and the system starts to shut down. With a bacterium, the cell is damaged by the bacteria and possibly by our own immune response, while the bacteria also excretes wastes that in some cases are toxic.

New England Journal of Medicine: Scientific Study Reports NO CASES of Coronavirus in Children Under Age 15 in Test Study
In their Journal article, Li and colleagues3 provide a detailed clinical and epidemiologic description of the first 425 cases reported in the epicenter of the outbreak: the city of Wuhan in Hubei province, China. Although this information is critical in informing the appropriate response to this outbreak, as the authors point out, the study faces the limitation associated with reporting in real time the evolution of an emerging pathogen in its earliest stages. Nonetheless, a degree of clarity is emerging from this report. The median age of the patients was 59 years, with higher morbidity and mortality among the elderly and among those with coexisting conditions (similar to the situation with influenza); 56% of the patients were male. Of note, there were no cases in children younger than 15 years of age. Either children are less likely to become infected, which would have important epidemiologic implications, or their symptoms were so mild that their infection escaped detection, which has implications for the size of the denominator of total community infections…

Calls Grow to Quarantine Senator Chris Murphy after Secret Meeting with Coronavirus Carriers from Iranian Regime
This year’s Munich Security Conference may go down in history as the COVID-19 viral super-spreader “event of the century,” if not in all of recorded history. That’s because the Munich 2020 event took place from February Friday 14-Sunday 16, and Iran’s Foreign Minister Javad Zarif attended.
Unknown to apparently all the high security-minded attendees, FM Zarif was likely carrying much more than the dark secret that the COVID-19 virus had already begun rampaging through the highest echelons of the Iranian government and society. FM Zarif , or one of his minions, was likely carrying the actual COVID-19, and infected who knows how many of the world’s highest and most influential politicians at the Munich event.
In fact, US Senator Chris Murphy, Democrat from Connecticut, not only met FM Zarif, but met him in Zarif’s hotel suite where there was likely a rat’s nest of COVID-19. Unless drastic steps are taken, Sen. Murphy may become the Typhoid Mary of COVID-19, and infect the entire US Senate and House of Representatives.

Did CDC Stop Disclosing How Many Americans Are Being Tested For Covid-19? - Live Updates
Update (1805ET): During VP Pence's virus press conference, FDA Commissioner Stephen Hahn confirmed that the US will be able to perform around 1 million tests by the end of the week. What this means is simple - more tests, more positives. And we wonder - absent G& actual action, not just talk - if this will take the shine back off stocks.
However, there is one more concerning thing as US authorities appear to take a page out of communist China's authoritarian playbook. As Jedd Kegum noted on Twitter, the CDC has stopped disclosing the number of Americans tested for coronavirus.

News media panic and if a story isn't bad, make it bad. Spoke to a couple of doctor friends and it seems like the disease to a normally healthy person is so benign that they could have it, go through the complete cycle to full health, and never know it. On the other hand, if you are over 70 and have respiratory problems, breath filtered air and stay secluded until the situation is fully resolved.
