Oh, yeah. It was an escape that went under the radar. A group of about 10 bacteria hijacked a toy crane and pickup truck. They entered the lab at night, when it was closed. One of the bacteria had done time for picking locks on refrigerators in the the local grocery store, but was released when all the witnesses were killed in a mass suicide by taking isopropyl alcohol in their Kool-Aid. Upon his release, he, quickly, joined the gang who was going to free the Coronavirus captives.

They drove to the incubator and the lockpicking bacteria opened the door. They grabbed the Petri dish with the viruses, using the crane, loaded it in the toy truck, and sped away.

When they were about to get caught, they headed into the open air market across the street and dumped the Petri dish into a basket containing fresh bat brains.

By eating the bat brains, the people, unknowingly, ingested COVID and the rest is history.

So, yes, they did escape, but only with the help of some evil, psychopathic bacteria.
