    I'm a grampa!!!

My granddaughter was born this morning at 0107!

Pics to follow if her mom and dad allow it.

She's healthy - her birth weight was 9 pounds, 3 ounces. My oldest son (the father) was 9 pounds, 9 ounces when he was born (which seems like just last week).

    And the circle continues....

If you'd known grandkids were this much fun you'da had them first!

Thanks for all the kind replies!

@Full Otto: Sadly, not a redhead. She has dark brown - almost black hair - and lots of it already.

She has grayish-blue eyes just like mine, but the color may change in a few months or so.

I already had a fun talk with her. I said "anything you want don't ask mommy, ask daddy. And if he says no, just give him the puppy eyes and say "dadeeeeee" and guaranteed he'll melt... but don't tell anyone I let you in on the secret".

Of course, she'll figure that one out on her own anyway! LOL!I

    Thumbs up

Great Indeed! Congratulations! However don't let them call you all these little Names they have now for Grandfather and Grandmother. I have seen MeMa, Pa PA, and other stuff. The Word is Grandfather, or Grandpa, and Grandma. Don't let them give you little names for what you are a Proud Grandfather! I know some regions of the Country may use local Pet Names, but it don't sound right. Paul

Yup. I took both my boys and my daughter to the range. I hounded them mercilessly about gun safety, especially "finger off the trigger" until it became natural for them to pick up and handle a weapon safely without even thinking about it.

I started the boys at 6 years old. My daughter wasn't ready (in my opinion) until she was 8.

By the time the boys were 7, they had already fired more kinds of weapons than many people even know exist (including a Barrett M-95 (a mag fed bolt action .50BMG)).

The first time my younger son shot the .50, it almost knocked him backwards on his chair and he accidentally swallowed his gum!. Then he stood up, looked at the target and yelled "I hit it, oh yeah I hit it"!

That video was a hit on YouTube for a few months.

I have a vid of my older son with an AR-15 and a 100 round Beta-C drum, ripping shots into the berm and laughing with a foolish look on his face and the barrel smoking.

Those were the good old days when you could piss away a few thousand rounds on a Saturday and order more full cases online without having to take a second mortgage on the house. The UPS guy hated me getting those heavy boxes every few weeks!

I still can hardly believe that my baby boy is now a father with a baby of his own. The circle keeps going around and around. Out with the old, in with the new.

My daughter's favorite pistol is my (her) Ruger MK-II in stainless and a 5-1/2 inch bull barrel. It's a nice 1987 model before Ruger put all the trigger lock and magazine safety crap into them).

First time she shot it she smiled from ear to ear and said "can I have this one?". Since she was armed I couldn't very well say "no" (and if I tried, she would use the puppy eyes and "daddeeeee" thing on me and get her way regardless). And, she was scary good at making the target plate ring... every shot!

Since she is now only 18, she can't technically "own" and carry the pistol, but she knows that it's hers as soon as she gets the CHL.

    Only a few more years...
