The summary they come up with in the video is, I feel, incorrect, the equality in socialism isn't misery because those at the top live in spectacular splendour and ease at the expense of the 99.9 percent, the proletariat, who live in abject poverty. Bern and the rest will support socialism as long as they get to be the ones who eat steak every night and attend operas and lord it over the rest, while the rest of the people search the garbage dump for food and listen to a daily symphony of sobbing and moans.

That was one of the great errors the American Left made when the Soviet Union was strong and a real threat.....
Their idea was "Let's bring the leaders to America and show them 5th Avenue and Disney Land. They'll be impressed and will want what we have and make peace".

They never figured out that the Soviet leadership already HAD everything they could want and didn't care that their people were in poverty.

I remember in one of David Horowitz's books he wrote about helping a Russian family to come to America.
He apologized that due to their plane being late he couldn't take them to a better place to eat, so they'd have to have dinner at Sizzler.
He remembered the entire family walking in the door, taking one look and bursting out in tears.
They said that in the Soviet Union even the Chairman of the Party couldn't have such a variety or quantity of foods, because it simply wasn't available and there was no way to gather it into one place.

They were simply unable to understand that you took anything you wanted and ate all you wanted, and if you didn't like it you didn't have to eat it.

We had friends from Crimea over back in 2004, took them to a liquor store to get more vodka..... they were shocked at the vast selection.
