    Out of curiosity.....

if the SHTF, complete economic/societal/etc. breakdown, would you help out or let a gunsnetter stay at your place either temporarily or permanently? Of course said person(s) and their family would have to pull their own weight and contribute. Read a book recently (in a thread) with similar circumstances and I was just wondering.

Say there's nothing left for a member or his/her fam in home state and need a "free", as in freedom, place to relocate would you offer under above conditions? I would totally understand a no answer cuz your own family comes first, as it should and supplies are finite.
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them. ... Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."--Thomas Jefferson

I could consider to possibility under certain situations. Situation always dictates. My knee jerk response would be negative.
Trying to get on the no fly list, one post at a time.

Yes, here in the Plains there is a lot of space to defend and not many bodies to do it with.

Well, I think that it's important for us to lookout for eachother personally. I know that my top priority will be to make sure my family is in a secure place, but I am not so selfish that I would barricade myself from people and not offer support. There is a lot of wacko ass people in this world, it isn't easy to trust, but sometimes you've just got to do what you think is right or you'll never know who to trust at all. That's what ultimately will make the difference between a marauder, and a decent american survivalist. I must say though, it's going to piss me off when someone comes looking for help because they failed to properly prepare as a result of foolish thinking. Too many people assume that a super hero is going to save the day when a crisis happens but guess what? nobody cares. I am willing to bet that when shit goes down, (Assuming it does) half of the United States will go into utter chaos and there will be millions upon millions of whiney bastards runnin' for the hills rubbing their palms raw trying to start a fire injun style. Most of society right now is more concerned with eating cheeseburgers, getting plastic surgery, and buying designer clothing.

    Of course!
Because people like you are willing to help them out if a shtf starts.
You will never have more than enough to share.
My Neighborhood has one road in and out...... if a shtf, my neighbors should fear me more than any zombie/viral outbreak !!!

Absolutely. One of the reasons I like to hit this place is to network with people. That includes lending a helping hand if needed.

lol, I didn't know dogs carry those things.

Over the years, I've met a few Gunsnetters. The nearest to me is about 90 minutes away driving east and north.
My closest neighbors are either old, don't hunt/shoot, non-ex/military or a combination. They would leave and/or panic.

Unless we set up a GN code system, I wouldn't know who was trust worthy.

Well, if you stand in your front yard and yell...."I LOVE OBAMA,".....at least you'll recognize LAGC when he shows up.

If I offer you a pack of gum for a decent rifle; your answer would be a quick hell no asshole. lol.

So IMO, the question becomes what does this person offer to enhance your top priority?

This may sound cold; however, a shtf world would be ruthlessly cold....

If your stash has 2500 meals and there are three people in your family; at three meals a day times three people that's 277 days of food. Adding another person it becomes 208 days.

So the question is what does this fourth person put on the "table" worth a 69 day difference of feeding your family?

Industry uses a term "value added" and in a shtf world I have a feeling what "value added" offered will be applied to humans also.

My neighbor also has one road in or out.. I'll say this because IMO you're the type who'd assist me in "addressing" any local zombie or viral types in the neighborhood.

Yup, as a Round Brown once said "sympathy is word in the dictionary found in between shit and syphilis." Obviously he was speaking about in war; however as your family will be with you; shtf would be worse than war.

I have too much pride to ask someone for their hard earned food and shelter.

I'd much rather take my rifle to the state capitol and stick it up some liberal's ass.
