Anyone have an opinion on Pietta

I have an itch I can't scratch for an 1873 SAA clone. The Uberties have lawerized firing mechanism and I don't want that.

Also is it a huge sin to get one in .357 mag? I don't want to add another caliber to the stable and .45 LC is also super expensive.

I have a Pietta 1873 in .45 LC and love it. .45 is a caliber I already use and can reload for if I choose to.

I, also, have more than one Pietta BP revolver and love them, too.

I don't see any sin in getting one in .357, but, just remember that its top strap isn't overly thick like a Ruger's, but it should still be okay. IF you notice any gas cutting on the top strap, then shoot accordingly.

    However, I don't think that'll be a real problem.

Like I said, you'll love the Pietta. Just shoot it enough to know where to hold it when shots count as almost all SAA's shoot a little below, and left or right of, POA.

I have a SW model 27 and a model 586 and a taurus tracker (model 627) all in .357 mag (notice a trend with the caliber here...)

The SAA clone will be more of a toy and will probably get a diet of almost exlusively .38 special. I can scratch the magnum itch elsewhere.

Either way, you won't go wrong with a Pietta. Like I said, I love mine and have had no problems with it.

    Not quite,

I just ordered this one. The damages weren't too bad, under $500.

I don't think its bad getting a SAA in .357. As a matter of fact, I have been waiting on word about an online purchase I made of a Cimarron Thunderer in .357. Hopefully you have a better time dealing with the seller. I made the purchase on 20April and have had no new updates or info on it. Good luck.

I've had a flintlock blunderbuss on order since last October. According to the work list, over the past few months, I've moved up on the list from 235 to 168. Woo Hoo, I should be to 0 before mid-2021....I hope....

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you if you keep yours crossed for me. At least you know where you stand. The ONLY info I have gotten is that my payment has been received and my inquiries are important and someone will get back to me in about 48 hours. This is one of the reasons I have avoided doing online sales.

I ordered this morning from Bud's and just received an e-mail stating that the order had moved to their shipping department for processing.

No update as of yet, it is still in process in their shipping department. That isn't terribly unusual as I have had purchases take a week to ship.

I'm still at 168. They don't update their work page until about once a month.

Good thing I'm not in a hurry....

Well she arrived today. It is a beaute. I didn't see any obvious flaws it seemed to rotate each cylinder positively and lock up tight. The barrel didn't appear canted fit and finish looked real good. Beyond that I don't really know what to check for. Now comes the waiting.

I'll post an actual picture when I get it home

Just checked the website and it said that my gun is on the next shipment coming in from India and still has to go through customs. Not sure when that will be but it does appear to be moving in the right direction now.

NAPOTS, how long before you can take your gun home? Can't wait to see the photo of it.

It is suppsed to be 10 days but my FFL warned me that right now it is taking longer, the state can take up to 30 days. He has had a few that went 12 and 15 days but he said the last 2 he transferred went in the normal 10. He is a home FFL so he doesn't do a ton of volume.
