I like side-by-sides, but do not have the money to buy one. It seems unAmerican to hunt upland birds with anything other than a side-by-side. Another thing I kick myself for not buying when I was much younger and they were much more affordable.

Stoeger has some very reasonable, quality double barrels.

And, you can usually find good, used ones, espeially Stevens shotguns, in gun stores....

Over 30 years ago, I chanced on a Stevens Model 311 SxS w/double triggers for about $100. It was a Full and Modified choked gun and the first thing I did was to take it around the corner to the gunsmith in this small town and had him bore them out and put in aftermarket screw-in chokes. Several years later, I found out that the Stevens Mod. 511 was basically that - but I have never seen one of them. The smith gave me 4 chokes - one each - F, M, IC, & Skeet 1. I have loved using this gun as I can load a low-brass #6 for close squirrels or rabbits on M, and a hi-brass #4 or #6 on F for distant squirrels or rabbits. Or, a low-brass #7 1/2 on IC or Skeet 1 for close quail or pheasant with a hi-brass #6 or #7 1/2 on more distant quail and pheasant.
As a HD gun, one side has a 3" OO Buck (15 pellets) on M with a 3" #4 Buck (40 pellets) with the IC choke.
Imagine, a "cloud" of 55 pellets by firing both barrels. You aren't likely to walk away from that.
