damn. At what point do we just have a 50 bmg or 7.62 Nato loaded into a guided missile that can get close, home in and then blast the bad guy. Hell for that matter put it on a drone
Don't forget the Rods from God.

Rods of God was mentioned on a military armament TV show about 25 years ago. I think its very plausible that we have them. I'd like to think we do, but probably don't.

Do you mean tungsten rods in earth orbit waiting to drop on a target?
It would take a decent sized rocket engine to de-orbit them... a lot more than just a mini retrofire used to make a manned spacecraft skim the atmosphere and get dragged down.
To hit a target it would need to be STOPPED in orbit, relative to the ground, and at the right spot so that it could be guided as it fell towards the target.
And, to make it more effective, a small solid rocket could be used to boost it's velocity beyond what just falling would produce.

This is the same weapon used to take out the author of Benghazi, the iranian general dude. We should thank 0bama for devising such a wonderful device, and fitting that it was used on one of his fellow compatriots of the iran nuclear giveaway.
