Trial set for Black soldier suing police over violent stop
Video shows Windsor police officers Daniel Crocker and Joe Gutierrez pointing handguns at a uniformed Nazario behind the wheel of his Chevy Tahoe at a gas station. The officers repeatedly commanded Nazario to exit his SUV, with Gutierrez warning at one point that Nazario was “fixing to ride the lightning” when he didn't get out.
Nazario held his hands in the air outside the driver’s side window and continually asked why he was being stopped.
Nazario also said: “I’m honestly afraid to get out.”
“You should be,” Gutierrez responded.
Nazario stayed in the vehicle. Gutierrez went on to pepper spray him through the open window. Once Nazario exited the SUV, the officers commanded him to get on the ground, with Gutierrez using his knees to strike Nazario's legs, the lawsuit states.

Chip Roy, R-Texas, is introducing a bill that would block illegal immigrants from entering into the U.S. until the border was under "operational control" -- just as the House Republican caucus is eyeing a number of legislative and oversight moves related to the besieged border now they have the gavel.
Roy re-introduced this week "The Border Safety and Security Act" which was first introduced last year and would authorize the Homeland Security Secretary to suspend the entry of illegal immigrants into the United States, if he determines it "necessary in order to achieve operational control" of the border.

The county received the funding through Attorney General Rob Bonta’s effort to reduce gun violence. According to the state Department of Justice Bureau of Firearms, 413 people in Stanislaus County are disqualified from gun ownership because of criminal convictions, their mental state or other legal violations.

The White House on Wednesday bashed House Republicans for placing some of their most controversial members on the House Oversight and Reform Committee, accusing the GOP of “handing the keys of oversight” to extremists.
The administration responded to news that Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) would both serve on the Oversight committee after being stripped of their committee assignments during the last Congress for incendiary comments, including violent rhetoric toward other lawmakers.
