Theres a bright idea... Seemingly with an AK bolt and Mag set up it would be very interesting.

    I'd be more interested in a 5.45

I've got plenty of x39 rifles, I'd like to see something in .308.
How do you compromise with someone when their idea of compromise is to give them what THEY want?

Political correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

308, 8mm and 30-06 would all take an action longer then the 556x45 platform the 556 is set up for. This is actually a smart move as the 762x39 and the ability to use AK mags will make the 556 a decent deer rifle as well as still remaining good for defense. I would guess a 6.8 model will be coming along as well.

It's a nice idea, I'm thinking it should have some good sales appeal to those that have 7.62x39 weapons. However, it won't be on my list of "to get" weapons. When Obama won in 2008 I sold every x39 weapon and round of ammo I had. Made a ton of money for me.

Now if they would finally get a move on their Sig 517 (piston .308 AR).
"The God who gave us life, gave us liberty at the same time; the hand of force may destroy, but cannot disjoin them. ... Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with His wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever."--Thomas Jefferson

This thread intrigued me enough to field strip my Sig556 classic for a first time out of the box affair. That's a well designed rifle with some trick laser welding going on. Very similar to the ak in function, I had no idea how similar until I got into the bolt. If Sig wants to sell more autoloading rifles they sure as hell should put out some more calibers.

With brass cased American ammo? I bet one could squeeze 2 MOA out of one.

I saw a gentleman with a SIG 556 SWAT set up for accuracy testing a few weeks ago (big bell optic, mechanical rest, Federal match ammo) punching a group less than 2 MOA at 200 yards.

Oh yeah- plus for American made FMJ we're talking around $.75 a round- might as well go with 6.8 SPC for that kind of money.
