If everyone is going to get free stuff for doing nothing

Who's going to produce this free stuff? I sadly admit I have a daughter that believes Capitalism needs to be destroyed and nobody should have to work apparently. Who thinks that way? Everything we eat, live in, every good and service we choose to buy or use is courtesy of capitalism. This next generation is fucked. They live in some fantasy land where stuff is just going to fall from the sky. I'm thoroughly discouraged, They want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg.

the words of maggie thatcher bear repeating. something to the effect: socialism is great, until you run out of everyone else's money. it's your call but sounds like breaking someone's plate, might get some attention. (and, keep one back for future use.)

The libtards talk about free college tuition and student loan forgiveness. Well, what about the rest of us? Do I get a refund for my paid-off student loans? Will the last semesters of my younger son's college be free? They all talk about "sharing the wealth" but if you ask THEM to reach into their pockets and share, then it's a different story.

As far as the next generation being fucked, remember in the 1990's the big thing was the "service economy"? Young kids looked down on skilled laborers and sneered "I'm an engineer, you're just a machinist". Fast forward 20 years. The skilled labor got old and retired, now nobody knows how to build or repair anything and now, skilled labor commands top dollar. These libtard kids will finally see the error of their ways... when it comes back around and bites them in the ass.

A daughter comes home from college for the holidays. Her father asks her how her classes are going and how she is doing. The daughter talks about how hard some of her classes are and how she is working so hard to get the A's and B's she is getting.
Her father then asks about her high school friend who is going to the same college and how she is doing. The daughter replies that her friend isn't doing so well as she doesn't work as hard, or study as much, preferring to enjoy her social life.
The father then suggests that the daughter should go to the Dean and transfer some of her credits to her friend and boost her scores.
The daughter is appalled at her father's suggestion, repeating how hard she has worked to get those good grades while her friend has partied instead.
The father then tells his daughter, "Welcome to conservatism."

The plan is for us to do the jobs we already do, but we get our check from the government.

Yep agree with everything you said. I don't enjoy being a trucker but paying that 3K for school 30 years ago has paid off in spades. My youngest is currently in trade school for carpentry. I told all my kids if they go to trade school and get a job in their field, I'll pay for the school. So far only the youngest has decided on trade school, the middle wants everything for free, the oldest is so far left, I'd label her a communist.

Only $3K for school? Was that in the Jurassic era?

Hell, when I went to school books were around $20 each and I thought that was a ripoff. Now, they're over $200 each!

HAHA even back then as now, you could actually go for free at many big trucking companies, but you are obligated usually for 1 year. I opted for paying my own way, and man that was a great decision. The first company I went to told me I'd be home once or twice a week when I lived in PA. They kept me out west and south for a month at a time. About 3 months into it, I'd had enough of them. That's crazy $200 per book. No wonder people come out of a 4 year college owing 100K.

You aren't supposed to think these thoughts as they lead to danger.
Just consider everything to be free.
Even though you will be paying 90 percent or more in taxes.
And the money mere ink on paper or bits in a db, created out of nothing.
    Everything is free.

Do you know why that is? Because the college/university professors write a text for their classes and expect their pupils to buy them as they are the only ones that are used in their classes.

It's sort of a guaranteed sale on a limited basis, which partially accounts for the high prices.

I am friends with an Earth Science professor (Doctorate Professor) and I was going to buy one of his books (on sale at the university bookstore) and the used versions were over $150 each. I really liked the workshops he taught for our teachers during a summer program and wanted to get one of his texts, but I couldn't afford even the used copy....

My tuition was paid for by the county I was going to work for. They would pay all the tuition prices if I promised to work two years in their county. If I didn't, then I had to reimburse them for the money they spent on me. I ended up working for them for 42 years, so I guess I fulfilled that work requirement.

My path wasn't super expensive to become an engineer. I graduated in 08. I did most of my undergraduate work at community college which was very affordable other than books (same price as state university) I finished up at three university which was around 3k a semester. Expensive but not out of reach. I lived at home for most of my education as my folks were willing to help me out as long as I was in school. I ended up graduating at the top of my class. I will extend the same offer to my kids s long as the degree they choose leads to gainful employment

I would think about contacting my attorney if obiden decided to cancel tuition loans. Between the scholarships that my daughter got and the cash I spent to make up the difference, my daughter graduated with no debts. Between her hard work scholastically and my labors, she didn't need loans. Sure would be nice to recognize hard work instead of laziness.
