Great start! Unfortunately the Soviet military called it a Automatic Kalashnikov. The original designation never used the number "47". That is also why the second version, the AKM was called an Automatic Kalashnikov Modernized, except in Russian of course. If the first was "AK-47" why isn't the second an "AK-47M" or an AK-fifty-something?
Otherwise I am looking forward to seeing the movie as well.
I've seen two different trailers. One has English subtitles while the other has English overdubs. Think I prefer the Russian version with subs.
Years ago there was a post here with an article and picture of him getting presented with some swag from "The Guns Network"
Hat, tee shirt and honorary membership
I've looked around but can't find it anywhere

I believe those photos were lost when the original server was stolen.
I found the reference in this RIP thread

Mikhail Kalashnikov was a good friend of AK-47.NET and supported our website. He will be very missed....
God Bless him and his daughter and grandson.
