Ruger placed ads in the gun magazines claiming that their revolver was stronger then the S&W revolver.

Someone at S&W or their ad agency came up with possibly the most devastating ad in advertising history..... the famous "Burger ad".
Ruger sort of slunk off after this nuclear strike from orbit..........

Having a ruger and several smith and wessons I will say the smiths are a more elegant design.

I've owned both and would agree the Smiths are more "elegant", most have a far better trigger especially the older ones, and just a better more balanced feel in your hand probably cuz they're lighter.

That being said the only revolvers I still own are Rugers. Tough rugged guns that are good for banging around and actually being used in the field and not just a BBQ gun for showing off. The photo was right about the grip style, they do soak up the recoil better. Really like the no screws to hold it together or sideplate, much easier to work on and no worries about boogered screws.

My Smiths all wound up being worth more to somebody else than they were to me.....the only one I really regret selling was the 6" 29 I had. Would really luv to have that one back.
