After today, it's all historical.
1) John Browning was a genius, no one can argue that.
2) But ... a lot of the M1911 love is just OLD farts who like it because 'MURICA.
3) I have several M1911 variants and I suppose I'll take them for knock down power in a fight, but I have HK and glock variants that fire the .45 ACP that are FAR more comfortable to shoot (for my particular hands).
4) I'm old enough to have suffered the ramblings of all the old farts who squawked that if you don't have an M1911 or a Springfield in 30-06 (or a Garand) then you don't own a 'gun'.
I'm probably toward the younger end of our membership here. I think I grew up feeling a nostalgia about the 1911 the way my fathers generation did with the SAA. For me, it seemed every WWII and Vietnam movie along with almost every thriller, action movie, cop drama featured old slabsides. I have wanted one ever since I was a little kid, now I have 3.
