What is the latest on forming a trust and buying a silencer?

I just bought a silencer to be put into a newly formed trust, they are sending me a self fingerprint kit. I thought fingerprints weren't required for a trust? And when the hell are we allowed to self fingerprint for NFA items?

As long as it's an NFA item, fingerprints are required by federal law. Hell, to even buy a handgun in MD, you have to go to a police agency and get your fingerprints taken for the state.

Never heard of taking your own fingerprints before. Might have something to do with COVID.

I recall a trust didn't need it or maybe the trade off was fingerprints instead of the CLEO sig. I bought a MG in about 2004 and built a SBR krink on a form1 after that. Yeah I never heard of doing your own fingerprints either till now, it was just assumed by me when I did both the other NFA that a law enforcement fingerprinting was required, maybe it's different for a trust? EDIT: I looked into it a little further, SBR and suppressors don't require a law enforcement fingerprinting at least in a trust, which is quite strange isn't it? If you have no gov't encounters in any way through your life before you could just have someone else give fingerprints, but then again who would volunteer for doing it for you besides say a terrorist.

Yeah here it is, i think I remember a trust didn't need fingerprints photo ect. at one time and there was trade off by the ATF dropping the cleo signature for enhanced fingerprint requirements and photos for everyone in the trust. https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/br...cleo-sign-off/ Sometimes my memory works. LOL
