    Question VEPR still being imported?

As the title states and pardon my ignorance on this but are the VEPR rifles still being imported?

    Question

I had no idea. Just looked at one today, brand new in 5.45x39 for $599.99. Was that a good price?

I'd say its fair money for NEW Vepr 5.45x39. Not much even close to that on gunbroker, not 5.45...

That is a very good price for a VEPR these days.

I believe that Atlantic Firearms tried to get the importation rights after Robinson either gave them up or lost them. I am guessing that ATF in cahoots with the Russians decided that we the people do not deserve VEPRS, or many other really nice Russian firearms, of for that matter any imported firearm that happens to resemble something they determine to be evil looking.

I think that is a decent price. My understanding is that the Molot factory was acquired by another manufacturer. They are no longer produced. I feel fortunate to have one in pristine condition.

May have to go back and check it out. Pretty sure the price has some wiggle room in it. The rifle itself looked brand new and wasn't in the "used/consignment" rack so I presumed it was a new piece. How many mags and of what make should it have if a new firearm?

Mine is 5.56 and came with 2 mags. They are Polish if I am not mistaken. I have a bunch of Bulgarian circle 10 "waffle" pattern mags that function perfectly.
Here is a pic with one of the mags that came with it.

IIRC Atlantic was trying to bring them in around '06-'07 and thats close to the same time that IZHMASH (Saiga) absorbed the Molot (Vepr) factory.

I have one in 7.62x39, and just picked a used one in 223, if you find one at a decent price dont walk, RUN to get your hands on it. I have not shot my 223 version yet as i have only had it a few days but if it shoots as good as my 7.62 version I am going to be one happy camper

    Welcome to our website Cybermaniac.

Thank you for that update on Molot. It is amazing how many people in our country want firearms made in your country.
