    Dual fuel kit for Generator?

Someone had posted a link of a dual fuel kit for generators to run both on gasoline and propane, I've lost the link. If the original poster remembers where it was please post it again.

I was under the impression that dual fuel generators were specifically made to run on one or more alternate fuels? I guess I would be suspect of some add on that might allow a generator to run on a fuel it wasn't originally designed to handle...sounds like a problem waiting to occur...likely when you need it least.

Not the one that posted but found these if they help at all

    https://centuryfuelproducts.com/supp...conversion-kit
The Dual Fuel Conversion Kit uses an adapter that makes it possible to operate low pressure propane, natural gas and gasoline.

To make your life easier, we put together these step-by-step instructions to convert your gas generator to propane.

Keep in mind: modifying your generator may void the manufacturer warranty. Modifications may also lead to harm if you don’t follow the kit instructions. Proceed at your own risk.

That's the one I was looking at, not sure if it's the same one or not. $199, looks like easy installation for my Generac GP6500. I'd like the option to run it on BBQ grill canisters especially, A hook up to the house tank is also nice, plus regular gasoline. The tri kit does it.

So you've got some type of project in mind?
    Just curious
Here's one I have going on
It's a Generac whole house that runs from my LP

Put a deposit down in early Oct. just to get on the list to try and get one maybe in Dec
Got lucky and one came in so it got set
Then I got the gas line installed

I wanted a separate tank but my supplier said I'd have to buy my own if I could find one and it would probably be upwards of $4000.00
Wanting to get it done I went ahead figuring I could upgrade down the line if I need to
It's all waiting for the circuit switch which still must be sitting on a ship someplace or an L.A. rail yard
Can't be electricians fault he's gotten all this done with just a deposit so he probably would like it done and paid for too
Just glad the power stayed on during the blizzard we just had

I just have a 9500 watt inverter/generator with a manual transfer switch, so when/if the power goes out i have to go out and hook up the generator to the switch plug and fire it up. I've only had to use it once since i set it up a year ago.

Of course i will never have to wade through waist deep snow to do it ; pretty sure yours is automatic

Awesome Full Otto, that's eventually what I'd like to have, thought about that many years ago, Awesome!.
I just have a Generac 6500 wheeled genny with a generlink at the meter so I can use any circuits I need at the box, it does everything I really need, even runs the air conditioner with a lot of circuits on. Have never run into a circumstance where I used too many circuits at once.
Sure it's a bigger pain than having a standby generator like yours, having to connect the cord from the generator to the meter and fueling it. Yours is ideal. Does it have a low battery warning or anything or does it automatically start now and then to charge the battery or does the house electricity automatically keep the battery charged? I just want to have the option of using both gasoline and LP BBQ tanks at this point rather than depend on gasoline alone.
I'm surprised your propane dealer won't rent you a second tank.

I opted for a Generlink over a manual transfer switch because of the limitation of circuits with a transfer box and the cost of an electrician, Takes a half hour for an electrician to install the generlink behind your meter. The Generlink allows any circuits in your box to be used. It's paid for itself in a few storms and power outages.

Right now all they did was make sure it ran
It still needs to be finished so I'm not up to speed on how it all works
He ran through with me but it's been a while now
Hope to get a good tutorial when it's all done
He also wants to change out the old wires from the head to the meter to the switch then to the box
They have lost a lot of insulation and from experience he knows what to expect
Safety issue too so sounds good to me
Yeah I was disappointed about the tank

    YES!

    It finally got finished today
I'm pretty happy with it but also hope I never have to use it
Everything is automatic and the battery charges with both
Also has warmers for the battery and oil
Replaced all the old stuff for a very clean look

    Here's an inside look

The switch box the part that was holding things up.
Doesn't seem to be much to it but a big part of the system

I was told many years ago that this 102 year old house originally relied on batteries
I still have these crates I found in the attic, so I'm thinking I'm remembering the story right

There's a varity of wiring through the place
All in all quite relieved now that it's in, something new to maintain but worth it

That's a great looking system. Looks like you're good to go. Feels nice to be prepared, huh?

Nice, Use all the circuits in the house? How loud will it be when running? Gotta be much quieter than a portable genny?

Yep full house and not that bad on noise.
I had only heard it outside prior which seemed loud to me but muffled fairly well depending where you are in the house
Still noticeable but worth putting up with if you need it for sure

Definitely worth putting up with. My AC sounds like a plane right next to my computer room, but when it's needed worth putting up with! Good point.

Former President Barack Obama has ordered three massive propane tanks for his Martha’s Vineyard property as energy prices nationwide continue to surge.
    .........
The tanks are to be used for “residential purposes,” the office told TheDCNF, and have a total capacity approved of “2,500 gallons which was broken into two 1,000 gallon tanks and one 500 gallon tank.”
    ..........
Americans who use propane to heat their homes can expect to spend 54% more to run and maintain their homes due to increased energy prices
