Geez. It seems an admission of guilt. Remington did nothing wrong.
It also opens the door to gun manufacturers doing this all the time.

I see a lot of bankruptcies in the future. Gonna be interesting to see lawyers using this tact with automobile manufacturers, beer manufacturers ect ect ect. Family got killed by a drunk driver? Well that beer commercial celebrated drinking beer........ Auto manufacturer with the tough truck driving crazily or that car? You hit and killed three teenagers....... It will never stop. Remington opened the gates wide open after S&W peeked out. This was moronic. How the hell can a company be held responsible for a maniac or criminal?

This is a terrible precedent and sets the stage for so much more.

I can think of only one reason why...didn't Remington just come out of receivership and/or bankruptcy...and reopen/resume production?

So fight the good fight and go back into bankruptcy, or remain open and produce enough product (particularly ammo) so that the good fight may be fought by those who will ultimately have to fight it?

Agreed. This is only the beginning as it sets precedent for victim disarmament, and you know that is the end goal here.
