CBS’s Greenberg Blames America for Mexican Drug Cartels, Claims All Guns Come from U.S.

    By Brad Wilmouth | November 14, 2010 | 17:34

On Friday’s CBS Evening News, travel editor Peter Greenberg filed a report in which, without challenge, he passed on Mexican President Felipe Calderon’s charge that America is "the key part of the problem" of drug cartels in his country. And, even though the overwhelming majority of guns seized from Mexican drug cartels are known to originate from countries outside the U.S., Greenberg seemed to claim that all were bought in the U.S. Greenberg:

He (Calderon) claims American drug use is financing the cartels, and smuggled American guns are arming them. This is an example of the more than 90,000 weapons the Calderon government has confiscated in the last four years - almost all of them high-powered, and all of them bought in the United States.

I like one of the comments left on the article. Something to the effect of "The U.S. has a drug problem and Mexico has a gun problem. Why don't we seal the border for the common good?"

Problem on both sides of the border with to many laws. The Mexicans feared revolution so they outlawed guns suitable for military use and restricted the rest leaving the country free fire zone for outlaws. (Think any large anti-gun city in the US). On our side of the border similar laws but to a lesser degree with guns but even worse with the calamitous anti drug war. We created the problem trying to do the right thing and now our politicians and the majority of the public is to entrenched in their ways to admit the mistake and reverse/rescind all the bad laws making drug use a crime and therefore profitable for outlaws.

If I were king the first thing I would do is rescind every gun law and drug law on the books that didn't have anything to do with product safety and fair trade. Next act would be to disband DEA and BATF. There is no Godly reason a country founded on freedom needs needs so many law enforcement agencies. I tried to add them up but gut buried with all the departments besides DOJ that has law enforcement departments.

So the author is right, we are at fault but all of his reasons are wrong. What a shock.
