    I didn't know Ruger even made a 5 1/2" barrel Old Army revolver. If I'd have known it when they were still producing them, I'd have gotten one. The Ruger Old Army is the epitome of BP revolvers.

    While I am not a big fan of BP guns, all of those revolvers pictured in the article were very "eye appealing".

    The first handgun I was legally able to buy was a BP revolver. It was a replica Colt 1851 .36 caliber revolver. I spent hours shooting it almost every weekend one summer. then, I bought a .44 and a .31.

    There's nothing like the smell of Crisco and BP in the morning to put a smile on one's face.

    That was in 1968....I've been hooked ever since.
