After today, it's all historical.
I was glad to see this article didn't support the myth that David Marshall Williams "invented" the M1 carbine. The real truth, outside of the Hollywood myth, is that Edwin Pugsley's team at Winchester developed the carbine in spite of Williams help, not because of it. Williams is due credit for the short stroke piston used on the M1 carbine but otherwise was quite disruptive and uncooperative in the design process.
