Obama Picks a Director For the A.T.F.

    By CHARLIE SAVAGE
    Published: November 15, 2010

Nearly two years into his term, President Obama on Monday finally chose a director for the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Mr. Obama will submit the name of Andrew Taver, the special agent in charge of the bureau’s Chicago field division, to the Senate for consideration, the White House said. He may face a confirmation fight; after Congress changed the position to make it one requiring Senate confirmation, President George W. Bush’s nominee was blocked by senators who used it to criticize the enforcement of gun laws against firearms dealers.

Hey! that's the only thing we got going for us in IL. That maybe soon all the shitbags will be in DC and then we can start building the wall....And then the flamethrowers...
This is just my opinion and it's entirely correct.

Obama could appoint Traver to head ATF without Senate approval

    November 17th, 2010 12:40 pm ET

President Obama could exploit his power to make temporary appointments during the end of year adjournment of Congress and bypass Senate approval of Andrew Traver to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A discussion of the nominee and his anti-gun credentials was presented as a supplement to yesterday’s Gun Rights Examiner column. Here’s another development:

The Bradys are for him. That alone disqualifies Traver from acceptability for gun rights advocates.

President Obama has named yet another anti-rights extremist to a high government position – this time to a position directly overseeing, interpreting and enforcing the nation's gun-control laws.

Andrew Traver, special agent in charge of the Chicago branch of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, or ATF, has been named to become the next director of the troubled agency. Traver, who has risen through the ranks at ATF over a 23-year career, is reputed to be well-liked by his peers and subordinates on a personal level, but not particularly respected for his effectiveness or management skills. The Traver appointment is seen as another example of President Obama's hostility towards guns and gun owners, as Traver has a long history of opposition to individual rights and support for government restrictions on firearms.

    Assault Weapons and the Truth

The Obama administration has nominated an anti-gun zealot as the U.S.’s top gun cop.

The Obama administration is moving into high gear in putting gun-control advocates into important government positions. The administration’s nominee to head the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE), Andrew Traver, should be of particular concern. His attacks on the civilian use of so-called assault weapons raise real questions about his willingness to distort the truth for political purposes. The person nominated to be the nation’s top gun cop shouldn’t use inaccurate descriptions to scare people into supporting gun control.

Mr. Traver is the special agent in charge of the BATFE’s Chicago field division. Therefore, he knows what was covered by the federal assault-weapons ban that sunset in 2004. But in November 2009, NBC interviewed Traver and reported: “Traver says the power and randomness of the heavy caliber, military-style weapons make them so dangerous not only to people, but to police. They’re so powerful, body armor can’t withstand a hit, and they’re so difficult to control, their bullets often get sprayed beyond the intended targets, striking innocent victims even when they’re in their own homes.”

Apparently the Senate chose not to vote on the confirmation of Mr. Traver.

Because the Senate didn't confirm him before the end of the year, Obama re-nominates Traver.

Traver and his SS gunmen would be experts on that subject.
