Seen that on the news....what a shame that a classic plane like that B17 and one of only handful in flying condition, goes down like that.
Where are we going and why are we in this handbasket???

It appeared the fighter came straight down into the bomber.... I wonder if the fighter pilot had a heart attack or something like that....

The whole incident is a shame.

Both classics and rare as hell. Sucks to see.

I retract my statement about the P-63 pilot having a heart attack. After watching the first part of Otto's video, I agree with the commentator about the P-63's cockpit and fuselage design giving a much-restricted view, especially the view beneath the plane.

It looks like the fighter pilot simply didn't see the bomber before collision.

Not only was the B-17 hidden from direct view, I would guess the P-63 pilot was trying to catch up to the P-51 head and was fixated on it as he made his high speed turn to catch up.

As a pilot, it is amazing how 50 feet higher or lower and we wouldn't be talking about this. How sad.

True....but the B17 is one of the legendary planes of aviation history....the P63 not so much.

Still you're right it sucks whenever we lose such rare and historic icons of the past and of course my sympathies to those who lost their lives doing what they loved.....terrible tragedy.
