Thanks my friend! Damn it, none of them have modern calibers. I guess .30-30 is?

Strange. I guess the only "modern" caliber is .450 Mar. I'm surprised there are no more .357 or .44 Mag versions around. I've got Winchesters in .30-30 and .44 Mag. It looks like their Trapper carbines are gone, too. I like my trapper carbines.

    Why a Winchester?
I got a 20 y.o. Marlin 1894 in .357 several years ago because I found problems with Henry, Winchester, Uberti, and Rossi.
What I didn't like about the last 3 were 1 - top eject (no scope); 2 - no side loading gate; and 3 - the buttstock was unpadded and so curved as to gouge my shoulder. Being top eject meant that rain, dirt, and debris could get down into the action of the gun.

I didn't even think about it? I thought winchester was the model 94 dominant? Don't know much about lever actions frankly, I don't have any. Just loved the look of them from the old westerns growing up.

Since I don't use scopes on any of my lever actions (I will put a scope on my Savage 99) top or angle eject never was a problem for me. I've gotten so I like Rossi lever actions. I have 2 of them; one in .357 and the other in .44 Mag. Both are great shooters and have super smooth actions.

I'm looking for something on the cheaper side and new, not used.

Rossi looks reasonable! Might have to dive in just for kicks. Haven't bought a gun in years.

I think you'll be very satisfied with Rossi lever actions.
