According to several court rulings in many states, your automobile is nothing more than an extension of your property.

Unfortunately there is a greater law that supersedes this one, known as "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed". With such a law, worrying about that if you can keep a firearm in your house, taking it into your car doesn't matter.
