Was that a goat I saw briefly over her right shoulder?

    I'd give you 10 to 1 she's a Democrat....and proud of it, too.

What do you think she would do seeing an old time phone booth like the ones Superman was supposed to use to change clothes? These "kids" just don't know what they have lost in the form of "old tech".

It's not just the users. The Phone companies made it almost impossible. I tried to keep a central land line in my house, and the phone company here wanted to charge me $100 a month for one line. Also the phone never stopped getting SPAM robo calls. I think that's the ONE THING that killed houseline phones is the constant robo calls. At least on mobile phones you can silence the ringer and block callers.

We still have a land line...'bout $45 a month. The main selling point for me is that the telecom co's are required to keep massive battery farms operational to supply power to the phone system should power be down.

By the by...land lines operate on a 48V system...did you know there are multiple low voltage devices that can be run off your land line connection? Radios, lights, etc., all designed to work on 48 volts of dc power...

I did not know that. I still keep mine. What stuff runs off 48V in particular?

After I posted that, I did a few searches. Used to be you could find multiple devices...lights, radios...all kinds of stuff that were designed to run on that low voltage from a phone jack...egay, cramazon. At the time I thought I should order a few, but being a niche item of course they were rather pricey, so I didn't pull the trigger. My recent searches turned up nada. I'm inferring the gooberment cracked down on the makers/sellers of such stuff...should have bought when I could...shit out of luck now.

I don’t have a traditional landline, but we use, and Ooma that is hooked to a cordless phone with three separate handsets. Hardly anyone calls that line, but it was the number I used for notifications from the school, so if we were lying in bed on a snowy morning, and it wasn’t quite time to get up, if we heard the house phone ring, we knew it was a snow day.

We've had the same phone number for our land line for over 40 years, the "adult" kids think we're crazy and wasting $35 a month. I rarely carry my cell phone since i retired (that thing was a f^cking anchor) and don't miss it at all.
The kids get pissed cause they can't text us and my sons absolutely REFUSE to call the home phone cause it's old fashioned.
My 15 yr old grand daughter loves it, she thinks it's cool and more private than a cell phone, when she's here she always calls her friends from it and they all think it's cool, one of her friends was like the girl in the video, didn't know what a land line is....so maybe someday they'll come back...when folks realize that cell phones are just tracking devices

When I moved into this 1961-built house 19 years ago, it had (and still does) a "copper-wired" landline. Two years ago, AT&T ran fiber along the major street that this dead end subdivision comes off of and they didn't bother to put in a node for us ! Because of my low income, I get DSL from AT&T for only $5/mth. BUT, a tech has warned me to NOT give it up. When I did get it, the limit was about 18,000' of "cable-run from the central office and I'm about 16,000' out. I get MAYBE 1 mb/sec. download and I can still lose connectivity in the middle of a session, sometimes multiple times. The tech said that they have cut that distance back to less than 15,000' because of the poor results over copper beyond that.

You must’ve heard I got divorced and we’re worried about me stealing her way. Lol! I’m nine years into my current relationship, so I guess the sho is on the other foot now. I guess looking back my life isn’t all that different. I don’t get online nearly as much but I still come back from time to time to see if you guys ever crank the roadhouse back up.
