On Grandfather Mountain in NC, there are two paths going up the mountain. One path puts you walking around a big boulder on a thin steel foot hold that sticks about about 8 inches from the rock face. Above that, there is another steel rod for your hands to hold on to. Below that boulder there is nothing but a 250 foot drop straight down.
My son and future daughter-in-law took that way.
I took the other path.
