Exclamation If you are on S.S. by now and getting your Medicare ready. Have you?

Have you been getting Calls from the Philippines about a fictious Money Card/Flex Card? I called both SS. and Medicare asking about this item. They told me it is a SCAM! There is no such thing. I asked how some Scam Group in the Philippines could know I will be Retiring on April 30th?

They told me it is a Scam. as my brother's first Wife was from those Horrid Islands. I can never forget that awful Accent they have. The Japanese sound much better. We should have let the Jap's have the Place. Only Japan and south Korea, can Speak our Language correctly. Paul

I might be but I never answer the phone unless I know the name on the caller ID. Usually scammers show up as "unknown name" so I let it ring and go to voice mail. Since they don't leave voice mail I have a very good reason to believe that the call was a scammer.

Yea you are correct, plus several Years ago, when my Dad was having Dementia Problems, He got some call from one of them, saying he is from Micro Soft World H.Q. They needed access to my Dad's Computer, so they could Deposit 5,000.00 He had won. I kept telling him it is a scam, then I saw the Words Remote Control, and I ended the Call. My Dad was mad at me for doing that, I was so glad I was there. plus my Brother in Law downloaded something in his Computer to make sure it was safe from Hackers.

Not having caller ID, I will answer the phone if I'm not busy. When I go "Hello?" then hear a faint "bleep", I know it's a telemarketer call and the computer just picked up. Nine times out of 10, there's some freaking "Hindu" so I just say "I don't speak to Dalit scum !" Remember the old caste system that is supposedly no longer used? The name "Dalit" is what the "lowest of the low" (aka "untouchables") are now called.
Many of the calls I get are robocalls so I just run my thumb over the keypad so it sounds like a fax machi9ne on my end.
Sometimes, if a live person comes on after that barrage of numbers and tones, I'll just push one number and hold it for a constant tone.

There should be an active federal agency focused on these scumbags stealing from senior citizens instead of trying to put presidents into power and undermining people who can help save this country. People scamming anyone financially like that should be hung. People that assume others identities should be hung, but this is the real world, scum is allowed and encouraged by certain parties.

I once got a call, well more than one of course but decided to fuck with the guy pretending to be microsoft calling from india or pakistan to fix my computer, when I got serious and started asking if he felt good trying to steal from people and why he was such a scumbag that had no ethics or decency, he starts cursing LOL in a terribly funny way saying how he's going to fuck my mother( who was like 70 at this point) oh it was ball getting him going lmao. I started speaking in an india type accent had a fricken ball until he finally gain his senses and closed the connection.

Many years ago my wife answered the phone (before caller ID) and I heard her saying very angrily, "sorry, my husband died 4 months ago". She hung up, looked at me and said it was a life insurance agent wanting to speak to the man of the house. God I miss that woman!

I don't think they know. They just mass bot call all the people in a certain age range. You can thank the Biden Administration for multiple data breaches of American SSNs and data.

Most of these calls are based on a point system. The caller gets a point if you answer (being belligerent still gives them one point). If they can actually talk to you, they get 5 points. If they manage to sell to you, they get something like 15-20 points. Their pay is based on how many points they get each day.

Once I learned this (from a friend) I stopped answering any calls I didn't recognize. I went from about 20 calls a day down to 0-1 calls every 2-3 days.

It takes about 2 weeks for them to get the idea, but once they do, you'll stop getting most of these calls.

I don't really think the gooberment has much to do with these data breaches. It's a combination of poor software programming, poor data security by the companies involved, and just stupidity by the workers in said companies regarding security.

My solution is to have two phones.

My phone I carry around I only give the number to friends, family, and important places...work, doctors and such. Very rarely do I get any strange calls...I won't say never....but they're few and far between.

The other one is my home phone...not a landline just another cell....I give that number to pizza places, people I don't like, and businesses that want a #, same with places on the internet or anyone or anything I think might sell my phone number....there are places that buy lists of phone numbers and of course businesses that make a few extra bucks selling them. That thing gets blown up, I never answer a single call but it gets at least 5 or 6 calls and on somedays double or triple that. If it is something legit they leave a message, but very few ever do....so I know it's most likely a scam.

Yeah it costs me the price of another line but I don't have to deal with scammers or calls about my car's extended warranty.

Oddly enough, my cell - which is switched off over 50% of the time - rarely gets a call. When it does, most are wrong numbers. Over the last several years, it has gotten several calls from people looking for a different person, despite the fact that I have had this number for over 15 years.
The landline gets 3-4 calls a day from robocalls or telemarketers. I can tell those when I say "Hello?" and get silence for about a second, then a faint "beep" as the computer picks up the call. I usually hang up when I hear the beep but sometimes they start speaking before the beep. Depending on who and what is said, that's when I do what I said above.
