    Update 2

    Short report.

Took rifle to lease this weekend.Off hand without using the sling for support I was hitting and splitting human head sized rocks at 70,90,and 100 + yards. No noticeable fireballs, not as loud as the .44 mag Blackhawk.Recoil was tame, quick follow up shots.

Hector of Elk River gets the credit for the barrel work,Mark Krebs the mag conversion.Mike Riddick for selling the rifle to me years ago.

    M1A mags supplied by 44mag.com.

    Thank you come again!

Did you fit the mags to the rifle or mod the rifle to the mags?

What kind of front hand guard did you install on the rifle ? Did it take any major modifications ? We are now starting to get in some new imported Vepr rifles in 762x39 & .308 but they have the wood furniture sets.

That is the Ultimak lower rail system. It uses the original mounting screw from the handguard. This was a Robarms import I do not know how if this done by them or came that way from the factory.
