What happened to the blackend background option?

I had it, now it's gone...it's better on my eyes...and yes, it's still selected as my choice...

I had the same thing this morning. Scroll down to the box to change screen formats. Click on "default", let it cycle through and then click on "blackened". That's how I got my screen preference back.
