Push the key that sez prt scr...its next to the scroll lock key....then go to paint and click on edit....then scroll down and click on paste....then click on file....then click on save as.....type in the name you want to save the screenshot as...then click "OK" then go to my documents and see your screenshot.....that is how its done.

If you want to do a specific window and have XP, then select control, alt, print screen and get just the active window.

+1 on the previous posts... all correct.

One thing to know is that when you make a screenshot, the image will be the size of your screen. In most cases you will probably want to resize the image to 1/2 original size (then apply a light sharpen to it to recover the losses of resizing).

My monitor at home is 1920 x 1080 which would be awfully large to post (as in it may be too big for the board to accept, and even if it is accepted, it may be too big for others to see without scrolling around).

Cutting the size in half (for my screen) yields a 960 x 540 image which is perfect for an upload.

on the webz i use Fireshot, an add on for Firefox. it puts an icon up by the "X" button on the browser. click it and it takes a shot of the visible area and then opens an editor. then treat it or save it like any other photo.

There is also Screengrab! for FF.

I have dual wide screen monitors and print screen isn't the sure thing it once was.

I have Vista, and it just has a simple snipping tool. Extremely easy.

Actually, all you need is alt, print screen to get a snapshot of the active window.
