    VEPR Imported once again!!!!!!!

Saw a notice from Atlantic firearms that they are importing the VEPRs!!!! This is great news to those that missed out on these great Russian rifles a long time ago!!!!

Link to the 7.62x39 version: http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storeproduct967.aspx

They promised that more will follow!!!!!

I like them but the Russians have their heads up their a$$ if they think Americans are going to spend $840 for a 762x39 AKM. The Russians have priced themselves out of the market at this point IMO.

Veprs are not AKMs, they are true RPKs with the heavier barrels and receivers.

The last true RPK I saw had a happy switch and a flat back receiver I meant they will be competing against AKM's that for equal quality are 2/3rds that price. I still think they are priced out of the market and it's due solely to ego on the Russian's part.

    Very nice.

I will keep watch. But I'm pretty happy with the Saiga.

Do these allow for an easy conversion to accept standard mags?

    Too expensive.

    I wonder if they'll import the VEPR-12.

I believe as imported they take std AK mags (the 762x39 model)

The Atlantic Arms web page said proprietary 10 rounders only. Hi-cap mags won't fit.

And if you can use hi cap mags will the fact that the barrel and receiver are foreign made mean one can only use US made mags?
This is just my opinion and it's entirely correct.

If you need to get the rifle into domestic compliance to use hi cap mags I would say you have to use 4 USA parts to get your foreign parts count to 10 or below (by my count). USA mags are only 3 parts so you'd need atleast one more.

The price of these are going to slow the import sales. That is a steep price for a 10 round capacity rifle.

Whats the equally capable yugo model going for, $350? Same type of reciever, same quality stock (the wood model), much cheaper (I bet) extra mags (works with WASR mags) and probably the same accuracy all for $500 less....

I'd go for one in 5.45,maybe 7.62 x 54R,already have the .308, i wonder if they bring back the .308 if it will use the same mags as my old one, it would be nice to have them readily available again

    Unhappy

I kick myself for missing out on the Vepr .223 rifles when they were around.
