    Mossberg refinish.

Need to put a new finish on a Mossberg 500 receiver. The receiver
is aluminum, so can't blue it or black oxide it. Before I shell out
$130 to black anodize it, any suggestions...Alumi-hyde?,
    Birchwood-casey Alumi-black?

    What say ye?

Thanks for the suggestion, too bad I live in an apartment.
Neighbors might get a little leery of funny smells coming out
    of my apt.

Gonna go with alumihyde ll, instead of the anodizing. Lots cheaper.
Now, does anyone have any experience with this paint? I understand how
to apply it and all, but what I would like to know is...can it be baked to quicken
the curing process or just follow directions?
    Thanks

I've used it in the past, and really don't like it as much as GunKote or other like products.

You can bake it at a low temp to speed the curing, but it makes it brittle and prone to chipping. Air curing is a long ordeal. DO NOT touch it until it has dried per instructions. Fingerprint are ugly in a weapon finish.

To the OP - I believe that you can get an anodizing kit for fairly cheap from Brownells - they're a sponsor here too

    Just a thought.
