I have thought of selling off some of the stuff that I haven't shot in years, or that I have never shot.
Edit to add that I did buy my son an ar for Christmas. Still, we have not shot it yet.

I think we all come to a point where we have enough weapons in the collection. That and once you own enough different weapons you come to realize if the caliber is the same there's not a lot of difference in the shooting experience. Manipulationof the weapon for loading and safeing it might be different but the recoil and trigger pulling aren't all that different.

I find some NFA items like suppressors was a good resparking agent for my interest.

Oh yeah. Normal gun accumulator malasia. I get it too.

Sometimes I look at my accumulated supply and think that it's just too many to shoot in a year - that it would be more gratifying to have fewer and shoot them all more frequently.

Now, I am finding that since my kids are getting older, I can set them all up with a nice little starter collection. That's kinda cool. And it keeps me from selling more off.

I am selling some though - intending to use the money for a down payment on some property.... but then, I just bought an EAA Bounty Hunter today - .22LR/22WRM convertible 7 1/2" barrel.... with some of the proceeds. So, the sickness lives.

ETA: man, I feel like I'm sitting in a GA meeting... (gunaholics annonymous).

I went out to the range yesterday and it was a fucking swamp between the bench area & the target stands. Bad enough that I got in my truck and left...Also, there was a cold 15 MPH backwind blowing; along w/ the temp. being 37 & the mudhole & overcast it was a depressing scene...I'm sure in about a month everything will be greening up, the mudhole between the target stands & the bench will pretty much be dried up & the temps will be in the low 60's...
I spent a couple of hours shooting with a steady 10-12 mph with gusts crosswind. My shoes got muddy, but it was a lot of fun.

Go out and shoot to break the spell. I just went and practiced with my combat autos yesterday, definitely put me back in the spirit.

I'm about to say fuck it and buy up some more pistol ammo for practice.

who knows...anyone else feeling this way?
You never know what's around the corner! I was in that exact funk back in January ... when a buddy talked me into going to a gun show. For a couple days before the show I was thinking "there is nothing I need ... but I was wrong! I have several holes that could be plugged if I found the right deal.

I went to the show not expecting to really find anything but the first table inside the door had a Remington 1100 and a Hi-Power clone that caught my interest. I went through the show and ran across a guy with a nice Marlin 39A that the lever wouldn't work. Because of that he said dealers were only offering him $100 ... He was wanting $400 but I offered him 3 and he took it. I didn't find anything else, went back and negoitated a 2-fer-one deal and was pretty happy about it ... All 3 plugged holes in my "collection". Then a couple days later a guy at work was telling me about finding a 22 revolver at his Dad's house and asked me if I was interested in it. I didn't have a 22 revolver, but now I do ... Lastly a guy on another form was telling about a SCAR clone in 22LR that piqued my interest ... because while I'm not interested in spending thousands of dollars on another 223 ... I'm not opposed to induldging myself a few hundred for another in 22.

So while I thought I was done ... I was wrong.

Now I have to rebuild my gun-money fund ... and have listed a very nice UZI on GunBroker if you want to stop by

I've actually revved up this year. In the last 4 months or so I've acquired a Russian Saiga/Arsenal AK-74, a .303 Mk III Enfield, & a Winchester 1897 riot gun. Sold off a mismatch Enfield and a Russian Makarov pistol I never seemed to shoot. Went out shooting @ my range the other day with some of my AK rifles & had a blast. It seems to go in cycles but for some reason I'm in upturn mode right now.

The fixed carry handle w/A1 sight and 20 round mag with that M4 buttstock and M4 handguard (looks like, anyway) send a mixed message. Kinda mysterious and exotic. It's like that plain-jane homely chick in high school who went away overseas for a year or two and came back hot and sophisticated... Man, I've got more problems that a math book...
