Lets get it on, 1911 postal match

Anybody want to play? Any caliber as long as it is centerfire and on a 1911 frame.

A little postal match to give all of those dusty guns an excuse to be shot.

If you are interested sign on and we will set up some rules and targets.

You have no idea how many times I have tried to log in the last 37 years or however long it was since we were down. So you in or out? I need another shooter to seed the place with. Strictly fun and giggles, serious shooters can go someplace else and play.

Well that's two of us, a few more and we can pound out some rules and pick a target.

    I'm game!

I'll be running my Rock Island Armory, 1911a1. Bone stock.

Don't think I'll win any prizes, but I need an excuse to go out and shoot it some more.

Okay, that is 5 of us, enough for a start. How about a simple red dot target for us old duffers with the fading eyes. no scoring rings just shoot for group. Say 10 shots at 25 yards offhand. That can be one handed or two handed without any support. That should give you young pups an advantage over the old guy with the white beard. Shoot as many targets as you want and post the best one. No prizes, no rewards, no titles, just chuckles and giggles and an excuse to burn some powder. Best measured group gets to brag for a month. 45 hardball, SWC, factory, home rolled, 9 MM, 10MM, 38 super, they are all good as long as it's a 1911 frame.

Close July match out on midnight of the last day. Sign and date target. Put longest measurement from outside of the two farthest holes under your name and date. Can everybody live with that or would you want something more formal? Talk it up and get the other 1911 shooters in on it.

OK. I just burned off 5 of those targets. Thats one box of 50 @ 10 per target. I should be able to post one out of five without too much embarrassment.

I'll try to get in on this when I can. July no good 'cuz of summer school. I'll be using my Taurus 1911. This would at least give me chance to see how each of the different brands/types of .45 ammo I have group. I'll be using two hands for sure!

Wouldnt scoring rings be easier than measuring a group? At 25 yards Ill be lucky to hit the paper lol

Scoring rings wouldn't help in your case than would it? Look at it this way, you only have to measure the two farthest holes so if 7 rounds are in the frame you can forget them, your group won't be bigger than 9X11. I have had days where that would have been acceptable.

No signing up, just post your best target.

Not bad except you never fired any of the 1911's, you wouldn't have been able to hang onto them. You need to find somebody near you that will let you shoot the rimfire match and get in on that.

I shot two targets today trying to use Winclean BEB and what a waste of time. Wouldn't feed out of any magazine and for a so called match ammo I was all over the paper in a 4" wide 7" high pattern, can't call it a group. Had 5 rounds of Fiocchi left and put those five rounds inside 2" with one a double. To bad I don't have more of them. Will try and find something else to shoot tomorrow and get a target up, this is bad, bad, bad. I mean embarrassing bad.
