    Tracers?

I have some 7.62x39 Russian tracers.
Anyone know how far a tracer has to travel before it's visible"?
    I've heard it's 75 yds. and beyond.

I don't know about 7.62x39 but we had two kinds, most of them ignited immediately but you didn't really see them till they were down range a little and the delayed ignition types that wouldn't ignite till they were close to 200 yards down range. A little weird at dusk when the target was 300 yards away and the tracer didn't show up till just before they hit the target. They were really for long range shots but we didn't have any long range targets. Only a guess on my part but I would guess your rounds ignite immediately.

I searched You Tube for ak tracers. From what I saw, they ignite just after leaving the barrel, and last for approx. 400 yds.

The 7.62x51 NATO ignite at around 2-300 yds. Those, I'm guessing are the long range ones.

I've got 400 rounds of 7.62 Nato Tracer here, and they light after about 75-100 meters. The burn out is around 900 meters.

Those would be good if a person had the shooting distance. I pretty much am limited to 100 yds at the range.
When everything greens up, I'll head out to my hunting property and give these a try. No need in setting the world on fire this time of year.

Yes they would, and I don't either, so that's why I still have the same full .50 cal ammo can of 400 rounds 7.62x51 that I bought 7 years ago.
