    Been out walking

I was hunting for antler sheds, if that counts, I hope I put this in the right place. I didn't find any but it appears this place could use a new thread so here it is.
It was warm enough for a sweatshirt and windbreaker so I took my dog "Hoover" out to the woods.

We'd gone out last week but there was snow cover and to cold for the camera. I don't know if it was the mood I was in or the mood of the woods but the pictures seem to show a lack of life out there right now, heard more than saw. But since I took some just wanted to share. Kind of different than some of my past outings still good to get out

I did come across these. Looks like a young deer to me

They were scattered around under whats left of this old stand

We did come across this little fixer upper gotta be a raccoon. I think Hoover knows where he is but I didn't catch a shot of him.

I'm guessing raccoon judging from the scat inside.

Kind of cozy though if you were a critter in winter.
Here's a couple more just for the heck of it

Oh well maybe it will be greening up the next time I get out there

    Didn't expect to see these

Actually I didn't get out there again this year maybe after the crops are out.

That shot is from Wolf Park down near Lafayette
    http://www.wolfpark.org/

I was down there to visit my daughter at school last weekend so we took advantage of the weather. I took a lot of shots but it focused on the fencing more than the wolves so I'll have to go back.

    Bison turned out decent.

This one is from a huge canvas poster they have up. It's from one of the demonstrations they put on there

Didn't think it warranted a new thread just wanted to share a few

This one isn't half bad, they are a couple the male is the white one.

They also have some foxes I had to rustle the leaves a little to get him to look up

The place is more for research and only open on the weekend.

Ahhhhhhhhh! This makes me want to get out into the forest. Here in Louisiana it's still in the 80's, and we're all in shorts, but there is as they say, a nip in the air. Sadly the forests down here are chock-a-block with mosquitoes and horse flies.

Went back to Lafayette today and spotted this guy.

I knew there were some nesting pairs down there but this is the first chance I was able to get a picture of one.
Now that I know where to look I'm going try for some more on a better day. They hang around the river hunting for fish.

My part time job with the surveyor's office does have it's perks. Found this today while recording log jams on one of the natural creeks around here.

Should clean up nice, just a little muddy

Great pics Otto. From the stuff you've posted here over the last few years you look like you could be a proffesional photographer.
